I am still trying to figure out the clause search. When looking at the following page:

http://www.logos.com/features

I tried the example given for "Clause Search" there. In the screenshot on the above URL, we get three results. However, when I enter exactly the same clause search, I only get the following two results: 2 Cor. 9:7 and Heb 12:6. Both of them do not match the one in the screenshot at the above URL.

Do any of you have an answer why this might be the case?

What specific search query are you running? This would make it easier to assist.

The discrepancy could be due to using a prototype (i.e., not the final version) for the screenshot. However, if you use the syntax "subject:God the Father verb: to love" you should get all those verses and a few more.

Hope this helps.

I used the query from the screenshot:

Subject:God verb:to love

The screenshot displays 1 John 4:19, Romans 9:13 and John 3:16.

I get 2 Cor 9:7 and Heb 12:6.

Very interesting that there is no overlap at all between the my search results and the results shown in the screenshot at the Logos website.

There's a case to be made for their inclusion but they do not occur with subject:God

On this example, and the wider issue of what results different search criteria should return, see also this thread.

Trying to use the Clause Search.  Want to know what God hates.

Person: God subject: hate

I get nothin!

Person: God topic: hate

I get nothin!

Person:God object:hate

I get nothin!

Try: person:God verb:to hate

I get 2 NT hits.

The examples provided when the clause search is blank, dos not allow for topic. Also, subject and objects are generally going to be nouns rather than verbs. Lastly, no space after the colon (:).

I hope this helps.

"subject:God verb:to hate" finds one hit - Romans 9:13 - and this looks to be about all there are.

Related are:

  • Hebrews 1:9 - "and hated wickedness" but here the subject is the Son
  • Revelation 2:6 - "which I also hate" but here this is tagged as Jesus

(found the related ones by scanning through a BWS of the lemma)
