A group of folks and I are going to be working our way through the LXX of Isaiah beginning December 2. Would love to have any and all join (here for details).

And, why yes, this is Logos-related. It was a breeze to create a dated reading plan in Logos 5. I had to do the manipulation in Excel myself, but all the data was there. A great feature in L5, in my opinion.

But why facebook rather than faithlife?

Orthodox Bishop Hilarion Alfeyev: "To be a theologian means to have experience of a personal encounter with God through prayer and worship."

Ah, indeed--a good question, and I hope the Facebook link on the forums is okay.

The folks I know who were already interested are all already on Facebook... it was just ease of an already established common medium, I suppose... although I am interested in checking out faithlife more to see what it offers for something like this....

IMHO there are some very nice features that Faithlife offers for this that Facebook does not. What I like:

1. You can share documents. Not only can you share them through the Faithlife interface, but you can easily connect to them, and they will show up in Logos 5 just like they are your documents! Supported document types are Notes, Reading Plans, Prayer Lists, Clippings, and Syntax Searches, with more coming soon.

2. Ability to share Notes. So cool!  Your group is reading common passages/text, you can insert a Note from within Logos and if you choose others will see it in their Logos as a Visual Filter of sorts (meaning they can turn on or off).  That's true group study. The leader could use Notes to pose questions, reflection points to ponder, links to other resources, etc. Of course anyone in the group can do this.

3. You can share a reading plan, again it shows up right in your Logos version.

4. There is also a common News/postings section that all can see.

5. You can see all this on mobile devices too !

There is more, but these are the things I appreciate most so far. I am sure the tool will continue to expand in functionality and integration too.

So the integration and cross-device integration is way better than anything Facebook offers. Facebook was not meant for this purpose, no criticism of Facebook meant!

I am not on Facebook. Would you be able to share the file for the reading plan on the forums?  Thanks.

Will:

Are you able to access it this way (pdf download)?  If not, let me know and I can email it to you or post some other way.

I took the liberty of starting a Faithlife Group based on Abram's plan. Here is the group:

Thanks, but it still sends me through Facebook.  Don't worry.
