I have 2 computers - a pc and a net book. is it possible to have logos on both without an extra charge?
The EULA explicitly allows only one person* to use the license. But that one person may have the software on as many computers as one wants.
*Logos has said that spouses, who share computers, and such, may be considered 'one user,' within some limitations (a couple, each of whom serve as pastors and use Logos extensively, seem more like two users). Please don't construe this statement as an official interpretation of the EULA.
It looks like the questions was regarding multiple computers that he owns and not multiple computers with multiple users [;)]
That being said, you can install Logos 4 on as many machines that you both own and use...

That's what I intended to say.
The rest was a clarification of the EULA; specifically, what Bob said he considers a single user (maybe I shouldn't anticipate unasked questions, but this one seems to come up over, and over, and over again).
You are definitely right on Richard, just jerking your chain a bit [;)]
Your brother,
Kevin
Ok, so how do you do it?
At http://wiki.logos.com/Quick_Installation_onto_multiple_computers you can choose Method 1 to avoid re-downloading and indexing, or Method 3 to avoid re-downloading only. Method 3 is more reliable/safe. Method 1 does work and I recommend that in preference to Method 2 for a really quick installation!
I want to know if I can simply download Logos 4 to my laptop. However, I bought Logos 3 Bible Study then upgraded to the Silver Edition and then upgraded to Logos 4 Silver. Do I just download Logos4Setup.exe from my order history and rerun or do I have upload all the others first?
Thanks
Brian
Yep, just run the Logos4Setup and make sure you enter the right Logos.com username and password and it will download and install everything automatically, and sync all your stuff from your other computer to this one.
I have a couple of questions about this procedure.
When you say to back a full working installation of L4, does that mean the entire L4 folder?
When you say "delete all folders beneath ...\Logos4\Data\{random}\" do I delete the randomly numbered folder itself or just those that are stored inside it?
Am I to assume that the answer to my first question is to backup only what I am deleting in my second question?
Yes
Only delete those that are stored inside or beneath it!
NO. You backup a "full working installation" that you already have! What is deleted is from the new installation.
Gottcha. Thanks Dave
You backup a "full working installation"
Dave, will this method work without internet access? I deploy in a few months, and was about to ask how to reload should I need to reload my laptop, and this may possibly be the answer,
Thanks,
Dave P.

Method 3 requires a licence file which it gets when it goes online. Method 1 and 2 will load the licence file from the working installation and avoid that issue, but you still need the installation files. So ...
I would advise you get the L4 installation DVD and request your licence file (via Email or phone). Make sure the DVD will be version 4.0a. When the DVD install has completed you can scan (see Method 3) the backup resource folder for the latest versions and resources not on the DVD.
Put your backup on a removable device like a 16 GB USB flash drive.
Thanks, I appreciate it.
