Remember the videos in Libronix that were coming to Logos 4?
Just wondering if the Barton audio/ videos and the Mark Kielar videos (among others) that I had purchased within Libronix are ever going to be forward compatible with the new format? It has been promised for Logos for a long time and now with Logos 5, I wonder if that will ever happen? I am running Logos 4 on my Win 7 desktop and my MacBook Pro laptop. My libronix is still on my old Vista laptop.......
I see the audio icon within my Mac and Windows Logos programs, but it is not functional on the Barton audios. That is the closest I get to any of these being functional.
This software was a huge investment; I wish this compatibility issue would have been resolved before the new version was rolled out. I am not planning on updating at this time.
Does anyone know if I just need to let it go............? Will this ever be resolved?

Beth there is a video feature in L5, but I don't think the resources you are talking about have been updated to work in L5. In fact the listing page for one of the Kieler videos (Workman...) and Barton's American Foundations specifically mentions they work only in L3. I suspect that is true for all of the videos produced for L3.
I share your disappointment that you purchased a Logos resource that only will work in a version of Logos that is no longer supported by Logos. To me this goes against what Logos has promised.
May I suggest you contact Dan Pritchett at Logos directly with your question and concern? Dan@logos.com.

I believe I also still have somewhere some videos that worked in Libronix. But I am not even sure if they are still on my computer or if they got lost in one of the upgrades of Logos and my computer. It is disappointing and as Mark said, seems to go against Logos policies.

We have added support for video resources to Logos (as of 4.5c). Unfortunately the changes to support videos on multiple platforms (including mobile) required a change to the resource making video resources incompatible with the old Libronix files. We are working to get all of the old videos converted and will unlock them to your account when they are finished. After they have been unlocked the video resources will be downloaded automatically.
I do not have a schedule for the release of these resources but I have requested one and plan to post an update at that time.

Very good news. Hopefully (since Logos no longer supports Libronix) it will get priority treatment.

THANK-YOU so much for this update. I really, really appreciate it. I have several of those that show they went to marketing some time ago. They are not yet in my Library within Logos 4. This is the most concrete information I have had on these videos!

I have several of these that have long ago been released to Marketing. None are showing up yet in my Library, so I think we may still be a ways off from reality. However, it IS encouraging that there seems to be some movement in the direction of them being functional..then perhaps it will be available for purchase. I have the Barton series and am really looking forward to being able to use it again.

I'm sorry they are not showing up. I've sent another email to try and get some more information about the status of these resources for you.

A wonderful surprise! Today I bought the crossgrade upgrade of Logos 5. After it downloaded and indexed, I was searching around the new platform. In my search for something else, I noticed that a David Barton video was showing in the results!!! YES, it appears that ALL of my video/audio purchases from way back in Libronix are NOW in my library! I want to thank you again, Ryan, for your part in helping bring this to fruition. They are functional on my PC and my Macbook Pro and on my Ipad!!!!!
I don't know whether they would have shown up in that random search while I still had Logos 4, but for anyone who had video/audio resources languishing in Libronix, do a search in your library...see what you discover!
THANK YOU!

Noticed the John Frame lectures appreared in Logos 5 on Friday:
these seem to be "audio on demand" rather than downloaded for local use like the originals available from the CD.
Are we going to be allowed to download these for offline use (such as on long distance/international flights) ?

Have you checked on the mobile app to see if it can be downloaded?

In Windows 7/8 the resources can be downloaded for later offline playback. On the Mac we do not support offline playback though we are investigating that support for audio resources so it might be possible to support it for videos soon.
To download the videos choose "Download all videos" from the panel menu.

When I select a video from my library, it opens a link in one of the view panes. On that pane there is that "I" for information about the selection. When you select the "I" there is a lot of information showing....about half way down the page there is an option that says download to: and it gives your options. I don't know if it works, but I just found it when reading your inquiry in the forum. However, my options to download are only to my mobile devices, I do not see an option to download it to my computer. I am using Logos 5 on my MBPro or my WIN7 PC. Both show the same options to download to a mobile device only.

I'm sorry. I was out of the office all of last week. The menu to download videos is in the panel video. Click on the resource image in the top left corner of the window. Near the bottom of the menu you should see options related to downloading videos. Unfortunately I'm not able to post an image right now but maybe somebody else will be able to post something.

I believe this feature just became available in the latest beta, released today. Ryan must have been using internal builds when he told us how to download them. Notice the second to last item in the menu below… if it was there in the last build, I couldn't find it.

Downloading for offline use is new for the Mac but exists in the shipping build (with the word 'videos' instead of 'media') in Windows 7/8.

So as I understand it the reason I do not have this option available is that I am using Windows Vista 64 bit and for some reason not yet stated Logos have not made that option available for Vista ?
Is there an intent to make it available for Vista computers ?

Your understanding is correct. Our playback mechanism is different between Windows XP/Vista and Windows 7/8. One mechanism allows videos to be cached locally during playback and one does not. It's possible that we could add local playback (download for offline playback) now that some of the work has been done to allow this on the mac. At this point I've not heard of any intent to allow this for XP/Vista but I will make sure your request is noted.

Thanks Ryan: Otherwise it will mean a hardware upgrade and cannot afford that right now (would prefer to keep buying books).

I run Logos 5 on Win7 and I see the download option there. I also run Logos 5 on a MacBook Pro with all software updates current. At this time, I do not see the download option on the Mac, but see your comment about work that has been done for the Mac. So, I assume that means it will eventually be available?
Thanks,
Beth
