Logos 4 Delux Map Set Crashing

All,

I've been having repeated instances of Logos 4 crashing after opening the Logos Delux Map Set and attempting to select a particular map. Any suggestions?

Can you reproduce this crash easily? Folow the logging instructions here http://wiki.logos.com/Diagnostic_Logging and upload them directly after the crash.

I had the same problem, BUT, L4 only crashes if I have MS OutLook open and running and I choose Deluxe Map Set by itself!

I can start L4, open the Deluxe Map Set, select a specific map and if L4 is the only thing running (on my laptop) no problem.

So, I started MS Outlook, I already had a Layout designed with my maps, charts etc. so I brought it up, chose Deluxe Map, selected a map, no problem.

Closed all, requested Deluxe Map Set from the Command Box, selected a specific map, CRASH.

I included the Log, (if I put in the wrong one, let me know)

I had the log running while I did the above.

I never us MS Outlook but after reading your post I tried closing everything and only opening Logos 4. It till crashes. It opens to a map but when I try to switch to a different map it crashes.

Hi thanks everyone, RC2 will have additional logging and we will need someone to reproduce this problem once RC2 is released and upload those new logs.

It crashed for me in 4.0b RC2 (It doesn't make any difference whether Outlook is open FWIW). The log is attached.

I am running RC-1 (I think). Logos 4.0a SR-3 (4.01.3.5180). Isn't RC-2 still in beta test?

I just finished a complete install of Logos 4.0a SR-3...5180 Platinum on a reformatted, clean reinstall of Windows 7 Pro (sigh). With logos 4 and indexer logs of the install saved. T.he indexer log contains many ERRORs of the type:

6 Error Sinai.NavigationIndex Ignoring non-first occurence of reference: 308:1627 / 308:4205 (ref: page.136)

I don't know what the error is or what it could do, if anything, but it sounds enough like maps that I haven't wanted to try the map set because I am still allergic to Logos4 crashes & hangs.

Rebecca,

The "Sinai" error actually has nothing to do with Sinai, (and therefore nothing to do with maps) but refers to a codename Logos programmers use. If you don't see symptoms of the error, you can probably ignore it. Indexer logs often show errors due to minor problems with resources that won't affect operation of Logos. If you do see symptoms of the error, just add a new thread with the details.

Okay, well 4.0b will be coming out soon and it will contain the fix so just wait for that and update this thread if it re-occurs.

I haven't been able to reproduce this crash by clicking on maps in the Overview, by clicking the previous/next arrows in the resource display, by clicking previous/next arrows in the locator bar, or by clicking Related Media items.

For people who are crashing: does it seem to happen no matter what you click on? Or are there specific maps only that cause the problem? It might be very helpful if someone who can reproduce the problem gave detailed instructions or a screencast showing the crash.

I just got the crash with 4.0c beta 1, and the log is attached. (It was exactly the same as the crash in 4.0b whose logs are above.) There's no need for a screencast. All I did was open the resource, click on another map (I think it was 'The Battle of Michmash') and it crashed.

Next time I loaded I used the cursor keys to change map, and there was no crash. And since then I've had not crash at all! (Did moving maps with the cursor keys fix it, I wonder?)

I did what Mark suggested (moving around with the cursor keys) and after that I was able to use the mouse to open the maps. Very strange.

I didn't have a problems either. Opened MS Outlook while the map was opened. Opened Outlook and then opened the Map etc.

You are opening Nineveh in Biblical Places, so it is not related to this topic at all! You should have begun a new thread and prefixed the title with Crash: to get noticed by Logos.

It appears to be due to a lack of memory. How much physical memory on your machine? If you restart L4 does it still crash - then you neeed to start a new thread and include both the logos4.log and logos4Crash.txt.

I'll open a new topic...but no...memory isn't my proplem. I have 4 gigs and this is a new Sony Vaio w/ a robust processor and good video memory. I highly doubt the crash log is correct if it say that memory is the issue.
