Missing resource in L4 (no, really!)
Some of you long-time Logos users will remember the Ephesians 4 CD. Most of my E4 resources are in Logos4, by my "Larger Catechism of the Westminster Standards" is not. That is, it doesn't show in my library. Yet if I type its resource ID into the command bar "LLS:15.0.3" it magically popus up. And before anyone asks, it's not in my hidden resources list. Can anyone else confirm?
I wonder whether Logos4 has automatically hidden it as it knows I have a similar resource from them? Strange if so, as this doesn't happen with many other 'duplicate' resources.

Same here. Logos LCWS shows up but not the E4. When I type in LLS:15.0.3 in the Command Box the E4 version opens up. I do not think Logos would purposely do this though.

I also have a problem with some of my E4 books. I'm missing some of them. They are just not in the resources folder of L4. I have them in my L3 resources folder though. Even if I do a scan command it doesn't pick them up. And yes, my license is synchronized.
I have it with some of my galaxie software books also. Most of them are in L4, but during scanning it just skips some of them.

I think I am missing some, but I will have to check when I am at home. Based on my experience during the Windows Beta process, what Logos needs is a list of all missing books so they can then check out why they are not working properly. I suggest we all check, and post a full list here on this thread.

Ok. A small correction here. Some of my E4 resources are missing in L3f, but they are available in L3e on my laptop. Both have the same resources in their folders. In L4 they are also in the resources folder, but I can't see them in my librayr. Typing the ID in the command box did open the book.

The other problem with resources is, I have some others that are in my L3 folder, but even if I scan it, it doesn't copy over to L4. I think most of them are the Bill Bright audio transcript stuff. I do have normal access to them in L3. These are some that are also missing:

Mark, how do I find the resource ID's of the books that I can't find in my library. I know for sure I'm missing the matthew henry commentaries also and some bibles. Probably the ASV included. These are the E4 ones.
If you can open the resource in Logos3, you can choose "Copy Location to Clipboard" from the Favorites menu. This location can be pasted directly into L4's command box. If the resource is available in Logos4, it will show up in the resulting pop-up menu.
It's very interesting that some resources are available in 3.0e but not 3.0f. After posting, I noticed that my e4 resource wasn't available in 3.0f, though I don't have a copy of 3.0e to test. I also have never purchased any of your missing resources, unfortunately.

I am not talking about E4, my problem is more serious. I DONOT HAVE ANY BOOKS FROM LOGOS 4 PLATINUM DOWNLOADED, i think. I haven't checked 1.200 books. But so far, I only got, "resources missing' messages all the time.

Interesting... I opened up 3.0e and noted down the resource id's of the missing books. Tried them all in L4 AND L3.0f and they all opened up! I have about 40 books that needs to be opened up this way.
I'm going to post the list here in a while.
Now I need to check the others that ARE visible in 3.0f but invisible in L4

I thought my Audio Greek New Testament was missing, too, because I couldn't get ctrl+R or "Read Aloud" to work with my NA27XXVII (in Stuttgart Electronic Study Bible). Swapping emails with Tech Support led me to try NA27 with Logos Morphology, and BINGO! it works fine. Good luck (now THERE"S a theologically improper good wish[:D]),

Some books produced by third parties have consistently poor metadata that interferes with features in the program. In other cases, they duplicate other books but with less functionality. We've built a list of books that aren't presented by default, but can be opened if you have a note or hard link to them. Ideally they should only be hidden if they are replaced by a different, better edition. If that's not the case, let us know which ones have been over-zealously restricted.

Henry: Most of these books look to me if they fall into the category that Bob mentions above. But I guess they should only be hidden if you have the replacement 'official' resource. If you don't, perhaps you should report it as a bug.

Hmm. I can open the Oxford Bible Commentary just fine over here.
Do you have other versions of the E4 books that I listed? It seems I can't open those third party books if I have a Logos replacement for it. For all those books that I listed, I have a Logos version of it in my library.
I am missing some books from Bill Bright. It seems like all the books that I have in L3 that ends with (audio transcript). Maybe about 50 of them. And also maybe about 10 others. When I say missing, I mean they are not copied over into the L4 resources folder.

Ok I just found one of those discs. Some of the missing books come from the Wallbuilders library. Did a scan on it but it still didn't pick up the books.

Do you have other versions of the E4 books that I listed? It seems I can't open those third party books if I have a Logos replacement for it. For all those books that I listed, I have a Logos version of it in my library.
I have all the packer and sproul books and several of the others you listed.I think some are replaced by newer Logos versions (like Young's Lit. Trans.) so in those cases you no longer need the E4 version which is inferior anyway.

I know if I delete the index folder it gets rebuild on startup.When should I delete that folder?

Thanks for any info. I just would like to get at least my Greek Audio working. It doesn't matter which version of NA27 I open up, it just plays with the MS Voice.
I hear that I need the "ELNT.LBXAUD" in my resources folder. I don't have it there, neither do I have it in L3 either, but it plays just fine in L3. Doing update now or update resources does nothing.

I wouldn't try to mess with .db files. If a resource can be read I expect it to be somewhere in the Logos4\Data\{random} folder, even if it didn't appear to be detected. What exactly are you trying to achieve?

Well, what I wanted to do is to have L4 re-detect all my resources and scan my L3 folder. Like in the beginning when L4 was first installed, but maybe without having to do the indexing again.
When I initially installed L4 it autoamatically began to download a huge amount of books. I stopped it and closed L4 at that time because it caught me unprepared and I didn't have the bandwidth at that time. I don't know if that caused some of my resources to be undetected. I think I used task manager to close it down. Maybe it corrupted some of the databases or something and thinks that I have those resources already in the folder.

There's a lot of duplication in these files. Logos holds multiple copies of data for quick access. Here's a rough description of the files:
- LibraryCatalog/catalog.db - basically all the information about all your books that you can see in the "Library" view. Titles, authors, subjects, descriptions, covers, etc.
- resourcemanager.db - lists all the resources, and tells Logos how to handle them (what driver to use), its physical location. Also includes your list of hidden resources.
- DownloadManager.db - list of files to be downloaded. If you're not downloading presently, it will be empty.
- UpdateManager/updates.db - latest file dates and download URLs for all your resources. Used when running an update to check for latest versions.
The good news is that:
- If you delete LibraryCatalog.db, it is re-created from resourcemanager.db next time you restart (it will take several minutes, 15 on my system).
- If you delete resourcemanager.db it is re-created (I think using all your discovered.db files), it also recreates librarycatalog.db and several other files. In total this takes around twice as long (26 minutes for me).
After you've deleted them, turn on logging before running Logos4, and keep an eye on the indexer log. If there's an error in the resource it will show up in this log.
None of this is to say, of course, that deleting those files will sort the problem ;-) If it doesn't, I would suggest you use my bibliography report (see below) to find out whether the Oxford Bible Commentary is being recognised at all.
If none of this works, and there's no mention of the resource in the indexer log, it may be a problem with Logos4 getting licence information for the file.

I do not have the file on my computer. I tried reinstalling from the CD, but it looks like my CD was corrupted. My drive just grumbles at me folder is blank.The file name is: OXBIBCOM.LSF

I am going to try and get the file via FTP, but I fear my license was somehow lost when I moved to the mac and now I wont have the book anymore. Bummer if that is the case.

The file, OXBIBCOM.LSF, is not on the Logos FTP server.
Anyone have a suggestion?
First check with Logos CS whether this title is unlocked for you... then, there may be a solution...
