First let me say, i'm not making an issue about the subject of these threads.
The Threads that are hidden by default from the public view:
Home>General>LOGOS PLATFORM is being sold as Catholichttp://community.logos.com/forums/p/65685/458869.aspx#458869Home>General>LOGOS PLATFORM is being sold as Catholic ( KEEP ON SUBJECT )http://community.logos.com/forums/p/66196/461939.aspx#461939
Home>General>response to bradley on "LOGOS PLATFORM is being sold as Catholic ( KEEP ON SUBJECT )"http://community.logos.com/forums/p/66201/461951.aspx#461951
To reproduce the problem:
I searched for these manually at Home>Topics
Then I went through the recent topics list ( and pages)
I searched well beyond the date that they ended. ( up to page 7 or so)
but they are hidden from the public!
It is only when I click on an existing link ( which someone would have to know before hand) that someone can view them.
I think that this is wrong.
( P.S you might have to clear your web-browser cache to verify this )
Luigi,
Please stop.
All these threads are visible as far as I can tell. I don't know of any feature we have to make them invisible to some users but not others.
But even if that feature exists, and some other Logos employee used it on these threads, please stop.
The forums (and I) need a rest from this topic.

When I viewed a list of messages I have not looked at yet and scrolled back in time to feb 11 I was able to see one of the threads to which you referred. I have never searched topically since I have not found the various forum sorting and searching methods to be accurate however the fact that I was able to find the thread without a direct link indicates to me that the thread has not been completely hidden.
Luigi Sam:My question is: why are they hidden by default?
When I open the browser to the Logos forum I see only the topics that have been changed since I read them last. So if I read something, then it doesn't appear in the listing until someone makes a new post.
@Wayne,
these two things might have also affected if it is invisible

I have now deleted some of the less civil posts on those threads. This is not the same as "hiding" them. When a post is deleted, it can't be viewed even with a direct URL link. As Bob said, there isn't a topic hiding feature on the forums. (More than likely, it's just a bug in the forum software that's affecting everyone equally.)
Please review the Forum Guidelines (http://community.logos.com/forums/t/10072.aspx), particularly point 3: "Please treat each other with the love, courtesy, respect, and kindness that you would if you were sitting in your living room together."
Thank you - I hope it is enough.

Understood...and I'm Sorry, I also got a little carried away over the issue, too.

I hope so, too.

If your post was deleted, it didn't necessarily mean it was violating the guidelines. When I deleted them, I took the "easy way out" and deleted the post as well as all replies to it, because that's fewer buttons for me to click. So this may have deleted some inoffensive posts that just happened to be replies to a deleted post.
Bradley,
Thank you very much for your transparency and kind response!

Also, Logos could inquire to dictionary/thessarus software called wordweb, as they have advertised that they are willing to let thier dictionary features be used in other software products ( that is for a fee tho ) but It might be worth inquiring about.
(this is my personal favourite dictionary software which is free*ish for desktop use)
ie their dictionary database: http://wordweb.info/developer/SQL.html
The new Biblical Sense Lexicon is built off a subset of WordNet. The data behind WordNet/WordWeb/et. al. is publicly available as it was built on grants.
Orthodox Bishop Hilarion Alfeyev: "To be a theologian means to have experience of a personal encounter with God through prayer and worship."
ah yes,
have you also seen mobi parts of speech word list?
that is good too ( and public domain too from memory ). Not exactly sure if it stems from the same efforts.

sorry, maybe someone could start a dictionary discussion, if there are more people interested in discussing it, ( to put this topic to rest )

No I hadn't seen this - thanks for the reference. You are probable familiar with VerbNet but I'll give the link for others who wander into this thread: http://verbs.colorado.edu/~mpalmer/projects/verbnet.html
