In Logos 6.11, we made https://ref.ly URLs the default for the "Copy Location as: URL" feature. We added a new "L4" option for those who want to generate the logosres, logos4, etc. links directly.

I had noticed this when trying to add links in a personal book. Will the old format continue to be supported by the pb compiler, or would these links be an obsolete form with less future support?

Both links (logosres: and https://ref.ly) should be supported equally well by the Personal Book compiler. There are no plans to drop support for the old links within the software.

John Fidel:

The only annoying aspect at this point is that it opens the browser with a redirect tab and a new redirect tab each time using Safari and Mt Lion latest updates.

We'll look into workarounds for this; unfortunately, it may be unavoidable. (Perhaps we could make the tab close itself, but most browsers these days prompt you with "The current page is trying to close the browser window; do you want to allow it?" which isn't any better.)

Any workarounds discovered to close the redirect tab?  windows 10 - chrome.

Just to confirm: are you opening the links from another application? (That is, your browser isn't opening when clicking a link inside Logos 6.)

Nothing yet. The best solution appears to be the new features offered in iOS (and Android IIRC) where an application can register itself to handle https://ref.ly/ links instead of the browser. That way the OS opens the Logos mobile app directly instead of opening Safari first. Unfortunately, I haven't heard any news of a similar feature coming to Windows or macOS but I wouldn't be surprised if it does.
