Just saw this at LOGOS.COM:

Word Biblical Commentary (59 Volumes) for $40.67.  Sounds like a good price, unless I am missing something.

Blessings,

I would guess that is because you already own all but one or two volumes, I think that you are seeing a  bespoke upgrade price.

I own the 59 volume set - at least that is what my library reports.  If you click on the link in my post, what does it say?

On the other hand, when I log out entirely from my account and follow the link - I get the $599 price.  So you may be right - but then I wonder what I am missing?  I'll give Sales a call.

Blessings,
Floyd

Very strange - Sales could not tell me what the $40.67 is supposed to cover.  "Don't spend the $40.67 - it would be a waste of money."

I can tell you that it was not a helpful conversation with sales (most of mine are not).  They had no way of telling me what I might be missing other than that there are "three" volumes that are coming out of pre-pub which might be what is being referred to.  But Dave could not tell me what those three volumes were.  Anybody on the forums know?

It shows $81 on mine...  Of the titles that are shown on the Logos page, I am missing 5 of them which ends up being a little more than $16 per missing titles

Floyd, personally I'm not interested in any of the Word Biblical Commentaries, but those three are: Word Biblical Commentary, Volume 18B: Job 38–42, Word Biblical Commentary, vol. 32: Micah–Malachi (Revised) , Word Biblical Commentary, vol. 37a: Acts 1–14

We have an internal tool (available to Sales) that will tell them what volumes in a collection you're missing. I'll remind them about its existence.

In the WBC 59 Volume collection, you don't currently own: 18A (Job 21-37), 19rev (Ps 1-50, Revised), 24rev (Isa 1-33, Revised), 25rev (Isa 34-66, Revised). You would get all four volumes for $40.67.

Well that's really neat!  Just click on the commentary to see if you're missing any. I don't recall anyone else having that feature.

EDIT: WBC: check! ($0.00)  Hermeneia: check! ($0.00)  Got a server warning on the Hermeneia for a questionable certificate (Wistia.com).

AYB: check! ($0.00)  (I can't believe these prices; what a deal!!)

Did the trick - spent the $40.67 and got the four books Bradley mentioned.  Thanks for the feedback.  I have also ordered the pre-pubs currently available.

Thank you everybody for the assistance this evening.

Might be worth reminding newer forum members that Commentaries such as WBC tend to "grow" a little with time as new volumes are added, some are replaced by volumes on similar scope by new authors and some are revised by their origial authors to account for additional scholarship.

This being said, WBC has grown since originally released for Logos in CD format (by Thomas Nelson).  One of the things this means that you need to be VERY careful when buying CDs of WBC from other than Logos or Nelson, you need to ensure the CD you are buying is the CURRENT one with 59 volumes and NOT one of the earlier ones with 58 volumes or 54 volumes (which are still around and occasionally surface on Amazon and eBay etc, and often NOT with a price lower than Logos currently charge for the full 59 volumes.)

For those who think the current Logos price is a unreasonable, I would suggest you try either directly from Thomas Nelson at $1,199.99
http://www.thomasnelson.com/word-biblical-commentary-cd-rom-59-volumes.html

or if you prefer a used copy, try Amazon (note this is the earlier 58 volume version)

Myself I prefer to deal directly with Logos.....

You are probably still missing Volume 8, Judges which was released in 2011 AFTER the current 59 volume set was assembled and makes the number of volumes currently available 60.

My library shows 63 volumes in the "Word Biblical Commentary" series.  Volume 8:Judges is included in that 63.  Thanks for letting me know of the possibility.

Good point!

According to the BestCommentaries website, the Acts 15-28 volume came out in 2010, and the Acts 1-14 volume comes out in 2013. The problem is that Logos is offering the newer volume on prepub, but not the older one, which has already been released!

Any thoughts from Logos? Did Logos list the wrong one by accident? FYI - the pre pub page says that the volume was released in 2011… I am not sure how to reconcile that info with BestCommentaries…
