Anchor Bible Dictionary
Something I noticed about the Anchor dictionary is that the only live hotlinks in it are Bible verses. Even when it mentions other resources that I have in my Library, those links are dead. That really surprised me, and it is disappointing. One of the main reasons I bought Portfolio and other resources is not so much that I plan to read them individually, but so that when I come to a reference in the course of study I can actually engage the reference rather than wonder what it was all about.
I certainly hope that Logos will address this issue, especially considering a resource as prolifically utilized as ABD is.

ABD really needs an update, since we now have all kinds of stuff (ANET, COS, inscriptions, etc.) that it should be linking to.

Not to mention the Ugaritic and Akkadian references available in the Portfolio! I bought those primarily to work as linkage references in resources like ABD.
Logos, please give ABD a makeover! Thanks.

It would be convenient, but since you can open the resources anyway with a few clicks it doesn't seem like it should be very high on their "To Do" list.
(Sorry, I have to lobby for my suggestions to get done first.)

Well they help me do Bible study!

Agreed. It is a classic resource and likely one of the first purchases outside of the libraries that people will make along with the journals. Both ABD and the journals are really poorly hyperlinked. An update to ABD would not only help customers but give a better intro to the quality of resources you can expect when you purchase Logos books.

[:D] Not! I've never even heard of Reid and Copleston.

A big +1 for updating the ABD. Integration is what makes Logos great.

We have created a maintenance team that is revisiting old resources and re-tagging them in light of our much larger library. ABD is near the top of this list.
Sorry for the inconvenience -- hopefully it'll be updated soon!

Thanks very much, Bob! I'm using it a lot for 10+ years...

Bob,
Would it be possible to have an automated way within the program to suggest hyperlinks like we can report typos? We could highlight the reference and then also copy in the libronixdls protocol to where that reference should take us; while this re-tagging team would probably have to check each correction by hand it seems like it could save a lot of time first by identifying which resources need retagging the most and what deficiencies are being encountered by users.
Of course, what I've suggested is probably a huge technical challenge and not worth it.... so feel free to ignore me. [:)]

Have you considered inviting the help of users on that?

One of the strengths of Logos is data consistency. Whilst users are great (I'm one after all!), this is not a job for us. We should stick to PBBs.

I have wondered about this before. For example, what about letting users help tag public domain resources that are not yet part of the Logos Resource Library? For example, I would be happy to help tag Barnes Notes which has been in community pricing forever. http://www.logos.com/communitypricing/details/2132

Did this ever happen? David linked backed to this thread and I am curious.

Its still in progress, and still high on the list! Its a huge resource, so this sort of thing takes time.
