There was an old Logos 4 thread on this issue, that didn't seem to get the result I'm looking for, so I'm hoping that either I'm missing something in Logos5 or that there are others like me wanting this feature to prompt attention to it.

Example: I'm looking for all the instances of φρονιμος in the Greek NT. I get 14 hits in 14 verses. I now want to list all those instances in a paper I'm writing.

In BibleWorks, I can simply right-click my result list and immediately generate the kind of condensed list I want and can easily paste inline in a doc, namely:

Mat 7:24; 10:16; 24:45; 25:2, 4, 8, 9; Luk 12:42; 16:8; Rom 11:25; 12:16; 1Co 4:10; 10:15; 2Co 11:19

(BTW, I do have the option to change the book abbreviations to whatever I want.)

I'm aware that in Logos5 I can choose to Save a Passage List of my results. I can then even choose List and Compact. I can then choose Print/Export, but the most condensed output I can get is shown below.

Is there any way in Logos5 to get a condensed, abbreviated passage list like the one shown above?

Thanks for any help!

I believe if you want something like what you typed out in your post, you will have to it out that way in your document.

I'm bumping up this old thread, because it remains my biggest frustration with using Logos in my work. It's just so much easier to manage passage lists and export them in BibleWorks...

So, if you are so moved, vote to have Logos include this improvement HERE.

Bumping this thread again. Creating a condensed list of references as noted in my initiating posts is one of the most common things I do, and Logos cannot handle it.

Really, this needs to be fixed...

"this needs to be fixed" sounds like it is a bug. It is not. It is not designed to function that way. I would suggest creating a suggestion on uservoice and see if it gets enough votes to grab the developers attention.

Ok, not "fixed" but "implemented."

Cf. my March 11 post for having already requested this. Perhaps I'm the only one...

12 votes is not encouraging as you need at least 200 to have Logos think about it. Perhaps you are the only one!

For lemma's, one option is copy and paste:

Mt 7:24; 10:16; 24:45; 25:2, 4, 8, 9; Lk 12:42; Ro 11:25; 12:16; 1 Co 4:10; 2 Co 11:19

Thanks, KeepSmiling4Jesus.

For single word searches, that saves a bit of work.

(But actually, in these instances, I just still use BibleWorks.)

I don't think it'll make you feel better, but in my own Bible software, I have this function, since I use it frequently.  Most often I paste it into a note (which my software also allows multiple notes generated from a single list).

I didn't know BibleWorks also had it. But it illustrates Logos (in my opinion) doesn't use their software; if they did, it's an easy thing to code and use frequently.

I've asked about this multiple times over the years. It is very frustrating when writin an academic paper not to have this function.

The Lexham Analytical Lexicon to the Greek New Testament groups lemma usage by Louw-Nida domain.  Found several Lexicons have verse reference lists.

Personally wishing for Logos 5 passage list export option: copy to clipboard as Lexicon reference list.

I wonder why they coded the right-click menu on Passage List to always insert the verse text, no matter what?

Ah yes, it's Libby to the rescue, yet again.  However, she expands the reference before you hardly get started. Bad girl!!

Added 3 votes to a very basic requirement in user voice suggestion.

I know this is an old thread, but somewhere along the line, Logos has made progress! If you check my initial post, you will see the problem I was trying to solve. I now see (using Logos 7.2) that when I do a search, there is a way (eventually) to get the compact list of references I want to paste into in a Word doc.

  • Run the desired search
  • Save as a Passage List
  • Choose Print/Export
  • (On the left side) Choose Print as minimized list
  • Choose Copy to clipboard
  • Go to Word, and paste in the clipboard and choose paste formatting if desired

What I get (cf. the initial post for comparison) is:

>>>>>>
lemma:φρόνιμος in NA27 w/Apparatus

Mt 7:24; 10:16; 24:45; 25:2, 4, 8, 9; Lk 12:42; 16:8; Ro 11:25; 12:16; 1 Co 4:10; 10:15; 2 Co 11:19

Exported from Logos Bible Software, 11:16 AM December 15, 2016.
>>>>>

That's the kind of list I want, but I then have to delete that prior (lemma:...) and subsequent (Exported from...) line. So, now I'm wondering...

Is there any faster way of doing this process? (I.e., without having to create a passage list...)

Is there any way of only getting the list and not getting that prior and subsequent line?

Thanks!

Is there a way to have your cake and not eat it?Big Smile

#1 No!

#2 Prior and subsequent lines are a feature of Print/Export
