Attention early purchasers of the Word Biblical Commentary series

I noticed today that the Word Biblical Commentary series has been changed to support dynamic pricing (that is, you'll receive a discount for volumes you already own). It's probably been like that for a few months, but I've only just noticed! Anyway, if like me you purchased the WBC before it became a 59 volume set, you'll be able to purchase the missing volumes. Just go to that page, and the price should be significantly reduced. In my case, I purchased the five volumes I was missing for just under $60.

Mark,
Does the web site / product page provide any assistance regarding whether you're missing any volumes and, if so, which ones? Without that, there's a lot of inertia on my part to prevent me from figuring it out on my own.
Thanks,
Donnie

The price will tell you. If you have all the volumes the price will be zero. It won't tell you which volumes you're missing, though.

With this commentary series it's pretty easy to filter out just those volumes in your library, sorted by title, and then scan through the volume numbers to see what is missing.

This is true of other series as well such as NAC and it has been on for a little while now. It is particularly useful when new release or new editions come out.

I don't know why, but I am missing only two and the price for me is $59.32

This worked for me for NAC and WBC but failed for NICOT/NT. Order button greyed out, but price is $1699.99 rather than $0.00.

Yes, only a handful of sets have this feature enabled. So far I've found Anchor Yale Bible, ICC, Interpretation, Baker Exegetical Commentary, Hermeneia and Continental Commentaries (but not Hermenia NT/OT), College Press NIV Commentaries, Word Biblical Commentary, New American Commentary, and Charles Spurgeon Collection.
It would be nice if there was an official list, or perhaps we could make our own on the wiki.

Doesn't seem to know I have WBC. Shows the individual extra volumes I've purchased but shows full price for WBC.

I think dynamic pricing is working on Pillar New Testament Commentary too.
The dynamic price for the four volumes I don't have is more than the price of the 4-vol upgrade pack by about $25.

My understanding is that the dynamic pricing is worked out by adding up the value of what it would cost to buy all the resources individually, and then what it would cost to buy all the resources you already own, individually. Then the percentage value of what you already own is calculated, and that discount given. So the total for the individual volumes of Pillar would be $634. If you owned everything except Acts and 1 Corinthians, the value of what you own would be $504, or 79.5%. So you would expect to get a 79.5% discount on the bundle cost - 79.5% discount on $497.25 leaves you paying $101.96.
I'm not 100% sure that's how it worked out, but that logic give me the right price when I tested it last year.

It's showing my price is $50 and the only volumes I'm missing are 2nd editions of ones I already have (19, 24, and 25). I'm thinking it's not worth it for me to upgrade until the rest of the missing volumes are available (vol 37a & b - Acts; vol 39 - 1 Corinthians).

I wonder if dynamic pricing only works on product that was purchased on Logos.com.... That would be yet another reason not to buy from third-party sellers.

I spoke too soon. I should have clicked on the link to the set. When I do, I see I have an offer for $50.00. Looks like I'd get two volumes for that price (a new one and a revised one). The revised volume is that much alone, so the price is pretty fair.

It's probable that you would also get some second editions for that price. That's the price I paid, and I got two volumes that were new to me, and three second editions where I had the first edition.
Check to see if you already have the revised version of Psalms 1-50, Isaiah 1-33 and Isaiah 34-66. If not, they'll also be included in your $59.

Mark, did you receive the Judges volume? It is not listed as part of the 59 volume offering.

No, just the ones listed. You've probably noticed the Judges volume is extraordinarily expensive, which is why it's the only WBC volume I don't own.

I have 58 volumes...am missing the second Job volume. Someone clearly has lost their marbles, because they expect me to pay $50 for one volume. That's never going to happen...ever.
Kinda odd how $50-60 seems to be a generic catch-all price for those who have most of the collection, regardless of how many volumes are missing.

You might also be missing some of the updates to 2nd editions. I have 60 volumes and thought I was missing nothing, until I had to look carefully to see how they justified the $50 upgrade fee for me. It turned out to be three 2nd editions of which I have only the 1st edition.

Actually, I don't think I have those first editions you mention, though I was under the impression that I would be getting them when I purchased the 325 collection a few years back. It may have been my mistaken assumption, but I've been bugged by it ever since.
I spent a few years jockeying for what I thought would be the best jumping in point for WBC, and I clearly missed. I still have the bad taste in my mouth.

If you currently only have the Nelson 325 book unlock, you'll be missing the following WBC volumes:
- Volume 18A: Job 21–37
- Volume 19: Psalms 1–50 (Revised Edition)
- Volume 24: Isaiah 1–33 (Revised Edition)
- Volume 25: Isaiah 34–66 (Revised Edition)
- Volume 51: 1, 2, 3 John
That's what your $50 should get you.

Yes Mark, you are right. I got Psalms 1-50, Isaiah 1-33 and Isaiah 34-66, Job 21-37, and Songs/Lamentations. That was good. Thanks.

I already have Vol. 51...18A is the one I know I'm missing. After comparing with your list, it does seem that I don't have the revised versions of the other three. That does help...but I do have a question. Since these apparently aren't new authors but just "updates", how revised is "revised"??

You might find the thread at http://community.logos.com/forums/p/48680/469656.aspx useful.
No definitive answers but some useful pointers.

Thanks, Graham...that was helpful. As soon as I get a slow down in my PrePub & CP stream I will probably update. Thank you, too, Mark.

I purchased the Nelson CD-ROM of 58 WBC books a few years ago, which was on sale in a Christian bookshop. This is fully recognised in the Logos website and shows a $50 cost for the set for me. I still have to check which books and editions I would receive and whether it is worth the spend.

I have the all the latest editions except 24 and 25, but the price is the same at $50.
I also have 8 on Judges but this is missing from the 59 book bundle.
