Issue 1: once a note file has enough notes that they don't all fit on screen at the same time, problems arise when editing a note which would displace some other notes off the screen:

In this screenshot if I click any of these highlights and press enter to add a blank line or two the note automatically closes itself, but if I scroll down and edit one at the bottom it works fine.

Issue 2: the blue resources links don't work as resource links as the mouse-press opens the notes for editing; I think clicking the link should open the resource, clicking the note text should open it to edit.

Issue 3: Scrolling in compact view feels quite jerky to me — the constant re-rendering of the red delete crosses during scrolling seems unnecessary. (EDIT: that goes for Full view as well.)

+1 Yes

I am not seeing this behavior. I am seeing this:

  • When there is NO content in the note, pressing enter has no effect except that the box "bounces"
  • If there IS content, pressing enter creates new blank lines as you would expect in a word processor

EDIT: I opened an existing note file and can confirm the issue… perhaps I didn't have enough notes in the test file.

Yup. I think someone said it was better with an SSD. Anyone want to chip in to get me one? Stick out tongue

I'm replicating this and will open a case.

You're right, but it's choppy whether the delete buttons render or not. If you scroll via the scroll bar on the right (so the mouse cursor doesn't hover over the notes as you scroll), the behavior is also jerky the way you describe. Opening a case.

Will answer the last question first—NO Devil

Don't have an SSD, but with a fusion drive in a new iMac did not notice jerkiness; however, the scrolling with a scroll wheel was not as smooth as it could have been.

Saw this behavior on the first try, but could not duplicate with 5 other notes.

I would also agree. Could not confirm this as all my notes were tied to Scripture. Clicking on one of the links did open the Bible to that verse.

You are quite right... I was going to suggest that it "feels" more choppy with scrolling with the cursor over the content than dragging the scroll bar but I think it's a psychological quirk of using a trackpad. With Apple's "natural scrolling" it's meant to feel like you're moving the page content around as you move your fingers on the track pad (rather than moving the viewport with traditional scrolling). But if your fingers stop and the content keeps moving it breaks the illusion and feels all wrong.

Moving to SSD had a significantly greater impact on overall performance than any other single component upgrade I've ever done.... Unintended consequence: normally everything is so quick it becomes even more noticeable when something's not working right Smile In this particular instance I would have thought that the note file would be in RAM?

Another issue in Compact view: in a note file where the notes don't all fit on the screen, if you click Add Note it automatically scrolls down to see the new note. However if it happens that the last note in the file is just above the bottom of the window and you click "Add note", it doesn't move down to see the new note.

I am able to reproduce this issue on Mac and will report it to Development.
