The reference browser in Logos 3 appeared to be a genuine browser.
For example, If I browsed for John 3:16 it would find references in the text being searched that not only specified this exact verse, but would also find those that included John 3:16 in a verse range under discussion. e.g. browsing for John 3:16 would find references to John 1:1-17 - i.e. John 3:16 was not specifically mentioned but was nevertheless relevant to the search.
L4 appears to search for the exact reference - or is it just searching for the specific phrase "John 3:16" as it would search for any other word or phrase. i.e. is L4's "Cited by" a genuine reference browser??
Any thoughts?
Thanks
Brian
If you do a basic search for a reference do you get your desired results? I'm using the Beta so I can't be sure of this, but I did a basic search for 1 peter 1:15 and there was a hit for 1 Peter 1:3-25.
Hi Brian
L4 has a reference browser that's every bit as powerful as L3's and maybe a little simpler once you get to know it - http://wiki.logos.com/Search_HELP.
<bible = Jn 3:16>
<= Jn 3:16>
are the same expression for bible refs equal to John 3:16. But
Jn 3:16
<bible ~Jn 3:16>
will find John 3:16 in a narrow range of intersecting verses, similar to L3. This is what Cited By uses.
<G101> will find Greek Strong's #101
but
G101 is not recognised.
In general, use the <> for a reference eg. <LN26.5> for Louw-Nida domains.

Doesn't Cited By use <bible = John 3:16>?

I was using 4.0a b4 which definitely uses <bible Jn 3:16> aka <bible ~Jn 3:16>
I checked SR-7 and it's worse! It uses the superset option which means results like Jn 2-3 (chapters 2 & 3) are included.
The Help says <bible = John 3:16> and it's clearly wrong.
I also tested this on 4.0aB4
