A number of people asked to see the process involved in preparing a sermon. I'm attempting to do this in a series of shortish videos. This is a work in progress – the sermon isn’t finished yet! But the first video is ready. It covers first steps, and gets me to my finished layout. If you're comfortable with layouts you can skip it, as my layout is fairly similar to John Fidel's. Other videos to follow as the sermon progresses!
Another superb one! Thanks, Mark. Looking forward to the rest in the series.

i am not a preacher, but this is great! It has many details on taking notes and using the tools in Logos which i can apply to my Bible studies.

I am amazed at how much i learn from these videos. One question Mark, how did you get the multiple collections in your Cited By window? As far as i am able to work it, i can only display one collection at a time. Can you explain?
God bless! -JoeK
Mark, dude!...SeeFoo!!!
That was crazy mad excellent man! I emailed the link to your website to everyone in my church. I hope you don't mind.
Respectfully yours, SeeFoo...Your Kung Fu is indeed superior!!!

This is what I wrote in the email:
Peeps! This video was prepared by Mark Barnes, a pastor who is completing a Ph.D in the UK. I met him online in the Logos Forum. I had asked him if he would produce for all of us Logos Forum bloggers a series of videos walking us through his process of preparing for a sermon--starting from one specific Bible text and then demonstrating how he would use all the toys in Logos4 (note taking, clippings, powerpoint, SS handouts, bulletin inserts ) to produce a completed polished sermon. And you know what...He was so gracious that he complied! This is the second in the series. It is quite impressive to watch. It should give you an idea of how you can do you daily devotions and/or prep for SS...especially if you have Logos4 Bible software. These videos may even convince you of how easy it is to get into the Word using Logos4 and maybe even prompting you to invest in this excellent software! :D But call me first if you want to take the plunge... :P Here's the link: http://www.4-14.org.uk/logos-bible-software-tutorial-videos/preparing-a-sermon-with-logos#taking-notes "Making Notes" is the second video that I reference above. "Setting up a layout" is exactly that. It is the first video in the series showing how to set up the "layouts" he uses in the second and hopefully many subsequent videos. Love, Jonely
Most excellent video Mark. I am going to begin working more with clippings and favorites. Thanks!

Joseph,
I think that's a feature of the beta. It should be part of a Logos update coming in the next few weeks.
Very very helpful; not just on a technical level but your point about slowing down was very important...I really needed to hear that...
thanks brother..
I was thinking to myself "why is he doing on paper what he could do in Logos?" and then you answered my question! You read minds and you had a very reasonable explanation. And the video, like all of yours, is fantastic. Thank you again. I'm going to be using notes and clippings and favorites more now. And I'm going to share this video (and the rest of the series once it's out) with others in my church who prepare sermons. Maybe I'll get some Logos converts thanks to you! :-)
Extremely helpful! This is exactly what I needed to get my time in Logos more productive.
Thanks again for taking time to put these together...
I've been using a layout similar to the note taking layout that Mark featured in the video for two days now on a study of Revelation. Wow! The notes, the clippings, the favorites. Everything about that layout just really works well for the type of study I'm doing, particularly now that I have L4 moving along a little faster. Thanks again Mark.
Just a question Mark. You referred to creating a collection in your "cited by" tag. Not sure how you did that. can you possibly enlighten?
