I bet you re getting 800+ books for that. Everyone's average seems to be just over $2 per volume. It will never be lower. They do have payment plans.

Yes, but the price of Portfolio is not going to increase $1000 in the next few weeks. You can get it later.

Could anyone vouch for the value or otherwise of these, particularly the ones I bolded? How often do you actually use them?

I agree this is is a good deal. I had all of the Classic Commentaries from CP and also most of the extras. This made it hard to decide. I found 1 item that was in my wish its for $99.95. That plus the $30 I would save on the Minor Prophets was over my cost of $110.26.

So I ordered the bundle. I got an additional 59 books and if I add the 40 that I will get later on the Minor Prophets, it was 99 additional books. That works out to $1.11 for each additional book.

If you want to build your library, this is a good way. I own the John Owen collection, but I also got 2 additional books by him.

Edited: On recalculation, I should have reduced my price by the order that I canceled for $30, so that my actual extra cost was only $80.26 or $0.81 per book!

Quite a lot of this collection never went through CP so this collection is actually quite a saving over the original pre-pub prices.

This collection does include quite a few commentaries from single author collections, the problem being that the non commentary elements of the collections are not included and the collections do not have dynamic pricing (i.e. Godet, Campbell-Morgan and Ryle)

Maybe we can get that dynamic pricing on those works in the near future. It would certainly spark some more sales.

Extremely pleased with the bundle because I had missed out on almost ALL of the CP collections. So to be able to pick up the ones that I missed plus a few extra resources for about $1.52 per book was pretty exciting! Have already started digging into the Judges collection...What a feast! Thank you Logos!!

A mouth-watering deal. I'd probably bite if I had some extra cash lying around. Sad

As it is, deeply interested in only 10% of the works in this huge bundle. Indifferent

Barnes Notes is an interesting read. I remember when it was in CP. It took at least a couple of years to go into production. I would not pay the current full price, but at CP price or in this bundle, it's nice to have around as is Lapide's and the Church Pulpit Commentaries.

The Commentary on the NT from the Talmud and Hebraica is something that I am digging into more and more because of my current studies. I don't have an opinion on this yet, but am glad I have it because of a recent shift in the focus of my studies.

Bottom-line, in general none of the works in this bundle which I had previous picked up on CP would be something I would pay full price on.  I did a quick analysis of the full price of what I don't have in the bundle and it came to over $6,500!  I could spend that amount on plenty of other great and current works.  Yet at $1.50ish a volume, used properly some of this is very useful to have as general reference works for study particularly because I do not have access to a theological library.

It's kind of like having a bundle of journals. There are always a number of articles that you really want to read, but the others which you don't read are there for some future time when you are researching a topic. For some, this contingency is very helpful at this price point.  For some this won't be very useful at any price point.  It's all down to what people need and use.

I wholeheartedly agree with this sentiment; it feels like a little bit of redemption. :-)

I just tallied my final numbers, and they're not quite as good as other's I've seen in this thread @ $1.74/book, but in no way am I complaining because the bundle cost was about the same as the packages in my wish list. So it felt like getting all the other stuff for free.

I just finished tagging the rest of the books that I didn't own in this bundle so that they will be more useful. Since a number were unfamiliar it took me a while to go through each of them to determine what type of commentary they were but I believe it was worth it.

man, I really want this, but it would be irresponsible for me to purchase it right now. With the price going up considerably, it might remain so.

Oh well. It is what it is I suppose.

Does Logos offer just the Classic Commentaries sets on the individual books as a set without the added collections?  I looked and didn't see this option.

I agree and I plead with Logos to fix the price at it's current level to give everyone an opportunity to eventually afford this Bundle.

I took the plunge on this.

I received 56 volumes today, and another 40 will come when the Classic Commentaries on the Minor Prophets is released.

The cost to book ratio was very good, just a little over a dollar a book.
