Rick Williams:

No, very few actually.

If that's the case, you probably have some very inefficient collections, like Tom. Tom reduced his delay by 75% just be revising two collections. If you want, you could upload a log, and we might be able to look at it for you.

It's helpful if you include some context of what you were responding to, especially when your response comes way later in the thread than the post you are replying to. You can quote the person you're replying to by selecting the relevant portion of their post when you're in Compose mode, and clicking Quote.

For those who are interested, Rick was answering a question I asked:

Mark Barnes:

Rick Williams:
For what it is worth, I have the same issue on an i7 Windows box,  It takes on average between 25-30 seconds.  I have 3,297 resources and 22 collections.

Do you have lots of tags?

Sorry, thought I had.

Mark Barnes:

That said, one you might experiment with is title:("study bible", "sfl") OR subject:(q, papyri, targum) OR mytag:no OR author:("Hayford, Jack W") OR title:"(Latin)" OR title:"(Greek)" OR "Perseus" OR title:("Bible Studies") OR title:(SAMPLE).

I presume that's a collection of resources you're not that interested in

Very true, I call this collection "always exclude," and it contains items that I am not interested in like Hayford or the many 'study bibles' that I have.  I will attempt to make some changes to this collection to see what happens..

You can find that out by clicking on the 'replied' link in the heading of his post (you probably knew that already).

Yes, I knew that, but not everybody does, which is why it's still nice to include the context.

The good news is that the optimisation brings this down to under 100ms for all tags combined, which should significantly improve the user experience for users with lots of tags.

I have seen specs (but no code yet) for better tag management in the Library. It is currently planned (no guarantees, all plans subject to change) for a release in the near future.

I went through my collections, deleted a couple since I don't need them anymore and re-wrote three.  I didn't see an immediate result but after re-opening Logos a couple of times I used the search function and the window populated almost immediately.  Thank you for the heads up Mark.

Interestingly, you do not have an accent, at least not one that I could pick up on.

What sort of accent were you expecting? Canadian, eh? I grew up in Western Massachusetts (far enough away from Boston to not have a Boston accent) and lived in Seattle for many years (which doesn't really have its own strong recognizable accent perhaps because it's made up of so many people from elsewhere) before moving up to Vancouver. So I've probably got a mixture of various accents. Everyone has an accent of some sort. It's just all relative to who is listening to it.

Ain't it the Gospel truth! I can't get that Siri gal on my iPhone to understand a word I say! Don't she talk funny?! Now that gal on my ATT GPS app, she understands me alright, but I don't care for that sanctimonious tone she sometimes uses: "You are off course again!!! Turn around or I'll slap you!" I will tell y'all what. I preached a revival in New York State for an ole seminary buddy a number of years ago. I told those Yankees that it sure felt strange to be the only fellow in town without an accent!

This is fixed in 5.1a. It's now instantaneous!

Thank you, thank you, thank you, Bradley and whoever else worked on this! I'm finally a happy camper!

Great news Bradley.  I look forward to seeing it in action. Smile
