Does anyone know whether will Logos 5 be ready for OS X Mavericks? I am planning to upgrade my Mac to Mavericks once it is out but worry that my Logos 5 will not work with it.
Your "readiness" Q also applies to Windows 8.1 and the answer would also apply to Mavericks.
Does anyone know whether will Logos 5 be ready for OS X Mavericks?
While Mountain Lion (10.8) was in beta, several users reported problems with Logos compatibility, but I believe these had all been fixed when ML was official released by Apple. I would assume the same thing will happen with Maverick. Personally, I usually wait a few weeks before jumping to a new OS. I'm only a reckless early adopter with Logos betas [:D]
I upgraded to Mountain Lion the first day that it was out and Logos 4 (which was the version that was out at the time) worked just fine with the operating system. I forget where, but I did check for compatibility before making the upgrade.
Thanks! Guess it is better for me to wait a little after Mavericks is out.
Perhaps… You can also follow the forums in the days leading up to the release. Every year, Mac users (like me [:)]) are very interested to know about compatibility and there are normally quite a few threads about it. At this point, it is too early to have any real idea from Logos.
My suggestion? If you only have one computer, I would wait and let others (like me) be the guinea pigs [test it out for you], especially if you need Logos for work or school.
[:D] I only have one computer for both work and studies. I better not risk it and will wait for it.
It's running fine now except that when you first install it won't shut down fully without a force quit. But after an update it seems to fix itself.
Running smooth on Mavericks.
I'm a little confused. Is Mavericks out yet?
Is Mavericks out yet?
No... but there are a number of users who are either developers, or part of Apple's Apple Seed program (I wish I were [:)]).
Great news then. [:D]

My friend and I also are facing the same issue in our Mountain Lion OS. Probably is not only a bug in Mavericks.
Logos 5 (and 4) has never shut down without a Force Quit anyway so this will not be a problem for me.
Btw, I think Logos should at least put something on their support page (or even their home page) when major software upgrades come out (whether Windows or Mac) alerting users to its compatibility and any known issues. For the money I've spent on the 3500+ volumes in my library, I don't think that's asking too much. I shouldn't have to go poking around on the forums for answers.
According to Roaring Apps (http://roaringapps.com/apps), Logos is not yet compatible with Mavericks. I do not know if this means Logos simply hasn't reported compatibility or if it truly isn't. Based on previous posts on this thread it is working for some. Since I use Logos almost every day, I guess I'll have to wait for Logos to let us know before I can upgrade, although I think Logos should have been more communicative about this.
Logos wouldn't let me post my last comment (i'm not sure why). According to Roaring Apps, Logos is not compatible with Mavericks. Some on here have said that it is working on Mavericks so I don't know if Logos simply didn't report or if it doesn't work for everyone. Either way, Logos could have done a better job communicating on this.
I've had no crashing or feature issues running Logos under Mavericks. Earlier on there was some trouble when exiting Logos but that has since been fixed. Performance, however, has been worse in my experience - scrolling in Logos under ML was fairly smooth while in Mavericks it's back to being pretty jumpy on my end.
I am running Maverick now and Logos 5 seems to be running fine.
I might sit this out until tomorrow. Not because of an OS problem, but because the servers usually get swamped.
So far it runs on Mavericks. I had to attempt sign in several times before it worked. Then it took almost twenty minutes to open and it runs even slower than it did under Lion (if that's possible). I at first had trouble when I attempted to copy and paste to Pages (which I am using more and more as I try to leave MS world behind permanently) but after closing Pages and reopening that seems to have corrected itself.
If anyone would like me to try a specific task just let me know and I will attempt it and report back.
Seems to me the scrolling is a lot slower than before. And it was really smooth with Mountain Lion. Is anybody else experiencing slower Logos performance with Mavericks?
Agreed!
Yes, it is scrolling very slowly. Logos 5 is not as responsive running in OSX Mavericks
I am taking a jump to test Maverick out since a few have said to be running okay. Downloading the upgrade now (upgrading from Lion platform). I use Logos 5 daily for my Master research studies and word preparation for several small groups. Hope everything will turn out well.
ALSO, the new Pages 5.0 is not working with cut & paste (it does not add footnotes) and the "replace with text" feature is not working
I think Michael here has a point. It's a little odd that Logos didn't really announce or post anything about the status of such major upgrade. Now that Maverick OS X is free upgrade and appear in the App Store Update, it would be very helpful if Logos post some kind of announcements.
Just updated to Maverick OS X. No problem loading Logos 5. But, just as reported by others, it has affected the scrolling. Scrolling is a little slow and jerky.
Logos tends to lag a bit behind Mac OS X updates. We'll deal with a little bit of small inconvenience, but they will push an update out.
(Unlike some of the unfortunate update misfires in the past couple of months, this has more to do with Apple than Logos.)
I upgraded to OS X Mavericks this morning. Logos appears to be working without any noticeable scrolling lag on my MBA 2013.
Being new to the Apple world, how long will they offer Mavericks for free? Still trying to decide if I should wait or get it while it's free.
Using a Macbook Pro with OSX 10.8.5 ML, 2.3 intel core i7, 8gb 1333 MHz DDR3. If that matters.
Love my Logos 5 and loving this Mac. Kinda skittish about upgrading, but liked what I saw in the presentation of the new Mavericks.
I think they will keep it free.
However, you can click the button and then cancel the download. Then it will be on your "Purchases" page and you can download it whenever you want as many times as you want.
EDIT: Just noticed a little bug in the App Store: to cancel a download after it's been started, you have to quit the App Store, restart the App Store, click on Purchases where you'll see it downloading. Click Pause and then hold down on the option key and the "resume" will turn to a "cancel."
Thank you for the info. I may just do that.
Appears to be running fine on Mavericks for me. No noticeable scrolling issues on rMBP13".
Yep - much slower scrolling in Mavericks. I'm running it on a 2012 MBP non-retina.
For those with scrolling issues, are you referring to all scrolling, or just scrolling when reading books?Scrolling through a book appears a little bit jerky, otherwise, scrolling seem very fast and smooth (scrolling through the library, layouts, my small dictionary panel, highlighting panel, search, passage guide, exegetical guide, etc. appear to scroll well).
It will ALWAYS be free. Apple used to sell updates for $100; $69; $30 and now $0! There is great advantage to Apple for as many users as possible using the latest OS. For example: If you are running the latest versions of iOS & OSX, you can send directions from your Map app on your desktop straight to your phone. Not so if you purchase an Android phone... The more connected Apple can make users between phone, tablet, desktop, laptop, television, etc., the more likely the user will continue to purchase Apple products. Welcome to the club... and welcome to the forums. [:)]

Similar experience on a Late 2011 MBP... slow scrolling & even a beach ball here and there.
Works fine in MBA 2011 with 4 GB RAM. A little slower scrolling but I noticed this is true of some other apps.
I'm having the same problem with copy/paste into Pages (works fine with MS Word)-can't get it to paste the footnote anymore.
So glad to see the force close issue resolved in Mavericks. I was using the pre-release version from the Developers' program and being unable to quit Logos cleanly was really a pain. Even updates were difficult to push through since they usually run after shutting down cleanly.
Just finished upgrades on both of my Mavericks-eligible Macs (mid-2009 MBP 250GB SSD, 8GB RAM; late-2011 MM 500GB HDD, 8GB RAM). No scrolling issues or other problems. Logos is running great.
Update went smoothly, I can't see any marked difference in scrolling speed.
I do HATE the way Mavericks handles multiple monitors which doesn't allow you to stretch an application over two monitors, but with a bit of Googling I was able to change the setting back to how ML handled them.
I upgraded, and my scrolling speed has taken a serious hit. It was annoying under Mountain Lion, but now it's gotten even worse.
Hi
I have just upgraded to OSX Mavericks, I can confirm issue with slow and hesitant scrolling for Logos with my Mac configuration.
Model Name: MacBook Pro Model Identifier: MacBookPro8,3 Processor Name: Intel Core i7 Processor Speed: 2.2 GHz Number of Processors: 1 Total Number of Cores: 4 L2 Cache (per Core): 256 KB L3 Cache: 6 MB Memory: 16 GB Boot ROM Version: MBP81.0047.B27 SMC Version (system): 1.70f6
my Mac configuration.
What Hard Drive?
I also upgraded today and scrolling is pretty slow in jerky, but only in books. In the guides, layouts, etc., it's working just fine. I really hope Logos pushes out an update soon. It doesn't make Logos unusable, but it is certainly annoying...
Macbook Air 2013
4gigs Ram
256g hard drive
i5 Processor
I also upgraded today and scrolling is pretty slow in jerky, but only in books.
Updating to 5.1b SR-3 should fix the issue where a framework change in Mac OS 10.9 Mavericks caused scrolling to slow considerably.
If there any other performance issues that you experience while using Logos on Mavericks please let us know.

Thanks for the quick fix! Downloading now.
Does anyone have a late 2008 Macbook (either aluminum or plastic) or Macbook Pro that is running Mavericks? If so, is your Mac slower, faster, or the same?
Also, to those of you who have minor issues: Have you thought of running a cleaner program (such as Onyx, that is if they have a version for Mavericks), and then have you opened Disk Utility and then ran Repair Permissions and then restarted your Mac? Another option (but is not necessarily needed) is to reset the PRAM (here is Apples article about PRAM and NVRAM). Did that help your computer and Logos 5, and copying to Pages, etc.? If not, may I suggest trying at least the first two (cleaning program and Permissions) and see if it helps any? (For those new to the Mac world, NVRAM reset is rarely needed, much more so than PRAM, which is itself rarely needed).
The reason I am asking (and suggesting) these questions is because I want to upgrade Mavericks, but I'm not sure how it will affect my late 2008 Macbook (Aluminum) and Logos 5. I have noticed that running Onyx and then Repair Permissions in Disk Utility and then restarting does help my computer. I don't do so weekly. My dad (who is a Mac guy, who does video editing with Final Cut Pro, and who works IT for a living) ran across an article that recommended running Repair Permissions after an upgrade. I tend to do so ever since. Also, if I am having funky issues with Logos, I have ran Repair Permissions (and cleaned my computer using Onyx, and reset PRAM, even if PRAM reset wasn't necessary) and noticed it ran better. Not saying that Logos doesn't need to be fixed or updated, BUT Repairing Permissions might be helpful (but I can't guarantee that it will be helpful).
