Because it is so wonderful!

Thank you guys for implementing it. I know its been here for a while, but I was once again reminded how useful it is. I'm (sadly) reading a book in the iPad kindle app right now and need to make a highlight starting from just beyond the edge of the page. I went to scroll up, but couldn't get the book to scroll. I tried about three times before remembering that this wasn't the Logos app. Now I have to adjust the sizing of the pages until I get the whole quote to fit, highlight it, then re-adjust to get it to my reading size.

So, thank you for making reading such a pleasure on the iPad!

Not being able to scroll up is the thing I find most annoying about the iPhone app. Scrolling up and down to view text is the standard way for the majority of iPhone applications.

The only reason I can think of that you might diverge from standard scrolling is that the logos developers are old people, and are feeling more comfortable when the iPhone app work like a physical book? So frustrating.

Two finger scrolling works on the iPhone.

David, you can highlight across pages in the kindle app too.  Here's how: start highlighting with your finger on then first page, up to the end of that page. Keep your finger on the lower right hand corner of the page for a few seconds. It will go to the next page and you can continue highlighting.

Hope this helps.

Thanks PL! Very helpful to know that. It will save me time. I still like Logos' implementation better though Geeked

Doesn't work when your usiNg your phone one handed. Seems silly to have to use two hands to scroll on your phone. I wonder if there's some sort of thumb double adaptor thing that converts your thumb into two touch points.

no,no there's isn't such a thing because most apps allow you to scroll with your thumb!

Kindle didn't until recently!

The Logos apps are much more complicated than most any other reader program. How would you reconfigure the gestures?

I think it would be fairly easy to introduce one finger scrolling: simply swap the actions of one-finger swipes and two-finger scrolling! All functions are preserved and scrolling (and page flipping) are much more intuitive.

That should be "one finger vertical swipes"

How would I do it? I would lean towards making logos work like the majority of other applications work.

Making your application have comparable user interfaces to other applications is a common and well accepted practice to reduce the barrier to learning how an application works, so:

  • Scrolling up and down would scroll the page up and down.
  • Swiping right and swipe left would bring up menus (aka like facebook
  • Single tap would unhide the menus.
  • The swipe up from the bottom of the screen should not override the iOS7 swipe up from the bottom of the screen. It is really frustrating when you go to swipe up to change the song your playing and the Logos menus get in the way.

Agreed… but iOS is still in beta and isn't officially supported! Wink I've been told that a new version will be out "shortly" after the release of iOS 7. I am a beta tester, but so far no beta builds have been released to us. I'm not sure if it will be a big release, or a small one to ensure compatibility.

I presume you mean a single finger scroll, since two fingers already works.

Most of the apps I use, including iBooks & Kindle, were both "page turning" apps until recently. I think Kindle changed… but I can't get it to work on my phone.

I like that idea… except for one thing. Not everyone likes finger scrolling for books. In fact, I generally don't. In fact, I would hate it if that was my only option.

In case you did not know... Within a book from the view menu (Aa) you can now turn on "Scrolling View" which seems smoother than the two finger scrolling and can be done with a single finger.  This view turns off flipping of pages.

I hope this helps!
