You downloaded the officially released version (5.1 SR3)
The beta which is being discussed in for version 5.1a

You could get it from the links at http://community.logos.com/forums/t/52967.aspx.
However, I would advise against it as there is no guarantee it would fix this problem and it is more difficult to get official support from Logos when running beta software.
If advice from the forums doesn't come up with a resolution I would suggest contacting Logos technical support - contact details are at http://www.logos.com/contact - but I assume they are now closed for the weekend.
rc didn't work. nothing new
The problem appears to be a corrupt Library Index. Please delete the following folder; Logos 5 will reindex when you restart it.

Bradley Grainger (Logos):The problem appears to be a corrupt Library Index.
Hi Bradley
Intrigued to know how this is deduced from the logs
"System.IO.EndOfStreamException: Failed to read past end of stream" means that a file that was expected to be a certain length wasn't long enough and the program crashed when trying to read past the end of it.
Libronix.SearchEngine.FieldManager is the component (on the call stack) that's trying to do the reading. This is part of the main indexing system, so it's either the Library Index or Bible Index.
The VisualFilterDocumentUserVisualFilterManager (also on the call stack) uses the LibraryIndex, so we can rule out the BibleIndex (as the source of this specific crash).
There's no way to recover a corrupt index other than rebuilding it. A good way to force a rebuild (for an app that can't start up) is to delete the LibraryIndex folder (and let the Indexer recreate it).
Thanks Bradley
Very informative and enlightening.

I followed someone's advice and downloaded RC3 and it failed as well. So I went back to the original L5 download and it says that an upgrade is required. What to do now?

Typically when you update to beta, it is difficult to go back. Files are changed and it is expected that you will be running the newer app, not an older one. In this case, you need to download the RC again.

Did you see Bradley's post 5 posts above yours that advised you to delete the Library Index?
