Lets say there is a authors work in cp and you have placed a bid. and it has been there six months or so, and it is at lets say fifty %, Let say logos could at that time come up with a price that would not be the full price put a price that would pay for a very very high% of the cost and then e mail each person who has placed a bid on that work, and say for this price we can put this in to pre-pub or production. if the price was right well the rest goes with out saying.

But Logos does not set the price, we do.

In theory, the price that we bid is the highest price we will are willing to pay for the resource.

But that's rarely true. The bid (if you actually want the book) is what you think the 'crowd' might successfully achieve. If I bought books at "the price I'd be willing to pay on CP", I'd still have OliveTree.

Armwood points out 'the crowd' as a group can be addressed when it becomes obvious the initial crowd-price won't work.

Bob does this periodically on the forum but it assumes forum readers that day.

I like the idea, especially on specialty volumes, where fewer but more motivated bidders.

Case in point; hope to save a dollar, and lose out! This will never cross the line unless the cheap-skates raise their bid!

I brought this up a few months ago that logos should collapse the $1 increments and move peoples bids around to compensate. yes that resource has sat there for months, its not moving unless people actually get off that $1 scale and use $5 increments and increase the bid..

There are no bidders at the "$1 scale" (well, maybe one or two, but far too few to be discernible, or to matter). There are a few bids at $25, and perhaps some at $20 that can no longer be seen, but the vast majority already are at $30.

curious how you can tell that? there is no bid markings.. vs number of bids, so for you to say that requires some hidden knowledge???

A $30 bid is also a bid for all the points under $30. Note how straight the line is up to $30. that indicates that most bidders are at $30.

hmm the way they graph things really then is not a true histogram of data. Its actually very confusing tbh, but then again I have a very technical background and we would never graph anything this way. my 3cents tho.. good to know.

It all depends on how you look at the data. A bid for $30 is also a bid for $29 and it is also a bid $28, and it is also a bid for...

Yes, and this will never make it unless some of the lower bids move up to $30 to get it over the line. More bids at anything less than that at this point need too many more bids to cover the costs of production. Almost all that are interested have already bid.

Looking at the slope of the line, there appear to be a few (one) who has bid $25, and almost everyone else is at $30. Then, a few others have bid $35 and up.

This means that some new bidders are necessary to get this over the top. Or everyone need to move up above $30 [8-|]

I think the case in this point is to wait. Observing this chart, it took less than week, and it is getting very close to 100%. I dont agree with you that it will not make it. IT WILL MAKE IT EVEN THOUGH "cheap-skates" DID NOT RAISED THEIR BID. Look at $25 increment, it went higher. I placed $30, but I do understand that not all can afford to buy it for this price. There are people here from poor countries. When we wait, we give them opportunity as well to benefit from CP.

After it reaches 100%, I know for sure it will go down to 29, 28, and most likely much below it.
