One thing I have noticed with L4 is that my study time has increased because the system is quite a bit slower than L3. I like the features of L4, however, just looking up a simple verse takes forever. Perhaps it is just me - maybe there is an option I could use that has escaped me - but even when I just want to look up one verse, other resources related to the Passage Guide kick off. I am about to use online Bibles for my quick look ups and save L4 for deeper study.

Am I alone here? Is there any work around?

Can you tell us a bit about your computer? (i.e. how old it is, which operating system, specs)

I use a 1 year old Dell XPS M1530. It is a pretty peppy machine normally. Still on Vista 32 - 2 Gig of Ram.

James, I recently created a whole page on the Logos wiki explaining some things you might try that should speed up Logos for you significantly: Logos Running Slowly. Give a few of those a try and give us a holler back if that doesn't do the trick for you.

James, the suggestions Rosie is point you to really did work for me.  In particular, on my machine, what helped is to tick the "Run as Administrator" box in the L4 icon properties, and turning off the tablet input services.  L4 runs much closer to the speed of L3 now for me.  Give it a try and see if it helps you.

James,

It sounds to me like you're typing the verse you wish to look up in the GO Bar on the home page. This action triggers the passage guide, exegetical guide, opens 5 bibles, etc etc... This is meant as a launching pad for study, not for quick verse look up.

If you want to open the NIV to John 3:16, type "NIV to Jn3.16" in the command bar. Replace NIV with the name of your preferred bible.....

James,

Here is a short movie of what everyone is talking about...

Also, It would also be helpful to check out some of the videos that people are making to explain their method of study...you might get some ideas about how the "philosophy" of L4 differs from L3"...
