I JUST BET, Jeremy, that you CANNOT say that three times, really fast.

Is it my imagination or is the merging of indexes in Logos 4.0a faster? It used to take my computer more than eight hours to merge indexes even when I only added only one small book. (OK, I forced the indexes to merge.) I just added a large set and the estimate for merging the indexes in Logos 4.0a is now only one hour.

Yes, one of the big optimizations in 4.0a is in the index merging.

Another thread mentions that scrolling on the laptop will not work until Microsoft fixes something. It is a Microsoft problem and not Logos.

William, you've already received a reply. I'll just add:

In 4.0, there was no merging of indexes. There was only a complete index rebuild - contrary to what was indicated in the search panel.

With 4.0a we now have index merging and the supplemental index is truly merged into the main index. That is the reason for the faster "merging."

I can confirm that I was able to successfully, without crashing anything, merge my index yesterday. What a time saver! Good job Logos!

4.0a's been out for a couple of days now and just thought to add my two cents. I agree that the indexing seems faster! The whole program seems "smoother", too. But I had a delightful discovery (even though it was mentioned in the list of fixes)...and this discovery actually fixed a problem in Windows 7 that I didn't know existed.

I tapped F9 and heard this noise coming from my headphones. Unplugging the headphones a muffled sound came from the speakers, even at top volume, yet was fine in the headphones. After awhile it dawned on me to visit my computer manufacturer's website to update the audio codecs. ιδου! The speakers gave me a clear woman's voice describing the page I was on in L4.

What a nifty idea!! Most of us won't need that utility after awhile but it will surely be helpful to newbies! Big Smile

Sir, when I type update now in the command box, it comes back with 2400 updated words.  What am I doing wrong?

Did this happen more than once? By "2400 updated words" did you mean resources? Did your system then update?

My version number is "4-SR7 (4.0.3.3272)."  It does not indicate any updates and will not find any updates if I type  "update now" in the command line.  How can I get it to update to 4.0a?

Bernard,

Is the "Use Internet" in Tools-Program Settings set to "Yes"?

Hello, I want to take advantage of the 4a update however it doesn’t seem available.

I have the Upgrade Scholar's Library: Gold (ND) to Scholar's Library: Platinum (LE) [DVD] SR-7 (4.0.3.3272).

“ Automatically Download Updates” is selected in the Program Settings.

I’ve typed “Update now” in the Command box and receive a “No Updates Available” message in the lower right corner of the Logos.

Thanks

Wes

Hi Wes,

If you are not 'working offline', have an Internet connection, and "Use Internet" and "Automatically Download Updates" are both set to "Yes," the 4.0a update should be downloading to your computer. Do you see the small, blue Logos icon in the system tray on the Windows taskbar?  It may be in the process of downloading. If you don't see it, and all the above are true, it might be best to get log files and attach them to this thread. You'll find information on logging in this support article: http://www.logos.com/L4/Support/DiagnosticLogging. You may also want to contact Logos Customer Support at 800-875-6467 or support@logos.com.

Thanks,
Melissa

I have the same problem as mentioned above. I have Gold (4.0.3.3272), but none of these new features are working for me, so I must not have the update. I typed "update now" in the command box and it told me that there were no updates available. The other day it started updating and indexing, but it must not have given me 4.0a because, as I said, these new features are not available to me. I've tried the command a few times. I am connected to the internet. I have "Automatically Download Updates" and "Use Internet" checked as "Yes" in my settings. I've closed the program and reopened it. I've closed tabs and reopened them. Nothing. Can anyone help? :-/

I had this problem with one of my machines - I went to this link https://clientservices.logos.com/update/v1/feed/logos4/stable.xml and manual downloaded and installed the most recent install.

A song I wrote and recorded : He Who Sits Upon The Throne

You mean your wife knows how much you spend on LOGOS?  If my wife knew whe would quit teaching and I would have an excellent chance of being with Jesus!! LOL Just kidding. I had other habits and my wife likes this one better. Sincerely, Pastor Al

I have installed the logos 4 on my desk top and love the program. I plan to install it on my work lap top but will need our company it rep to start the download. mt question is can I just use the CD that was sent me to do the download or do I need to do it online as I did my desk Top?

Thanks for any input.

Myles

Your CD should take care of everything.  Indexing and downloading of resources will be software inherent, assuming your IT department doesn't block the software accessing the internet.
