Right click a word and easier access to BDAG

I frequently right click a word to open the Bible Study drop down box. At times I would just like to open BDAG. Presently I have to scroll down to open BDAG. I would like for the top 3-5 lexical resources to be already in the box when opening without needing to scroll down to the lexicon of choice.

Hi Wayne

I get the top 5 lexicons shown as below

What are you seeing?

Just prioritize BDAG and doubleclick on any Greek word in your NA 27 or UBS 4.  BDAG will automatically open to the right lemma.

Graham and especially Justin's answers seem to solve the BDAG issue.  But Wayne's larger point of the lexicons not showing is becoming a progressively bigger headache, especially if you use a touch-screen.

When L4 first came out, typically you could see 3+ lexicons at the bottom. Now you can't see any.   If only one lexicon is always sought (eg BDAG), then the direct-click (Justin above) is the solution. But I use several, depending on the type of word (regular usage, theological usage, likely historical usage, etc).

Appears to me that Bob's plan for simplified menuing (trying to best the Libronix boys) is slowly driving toward the sunset.

Hi Denise

But in my screenshot above I show five lexicons.

Can you expand a bit on what you are seeing? Is it a screen size issue on smaller (maybe tablet) devices or something else?

Unfortunately, I think that will always be a receding mirage...certainly as far as I'm concerned.

Graham, it depends on what you're right-clicking on.  The first screen shot below is from UBS4; the second from an NA27 interlinear. But your example does appear to be more expansive.  My screens's normal diameter for a portable - 10".  Now, by deleting my documents (eg the extra Bible word study), I can get half a lexicon (though I have to use my pinky).

..

..

OT: It's interesting that Liddell intermediate could pick up the 1st example, in addition to the analytics.

What happens if you click on "lemma" in the 2nd example?

George, maybe I'm misunderstanding?  The second example has 'lemma' selected.

But I did go ahead and click on it just to see if it would expand the panel.  Nada.

I also wondered if the layout was the issue or literal position of the right-click. I opened a full screen resource and got the same right-click size.  Screen certainly isn't a limiter, but Graham's seems to be different.

I wonder if when they put in the community stuff, that created a different default menu size?  I have community turned off, and of course I'm offline for months.

Denise, I'm not going to open an interlinear even for you.  Have you tried a REAL OL NA27 text?

George ... I'm surprised at you. The first example is 'real' ... not burdened with all those morpho-crutches.  The second one has training wheels.

But to demonstrate your request, NA27 w/morphs is below.  Don't you love the subtle rippling italics changes, as it moves down the text?  So I use USB4.  At least it's more obvious!

And if you pull the "slider" (not a hamburger) down on the left (what's below "Add Lemma to Word List"?

Lexicons!!

But you may have missed the point.   Getting to the lexicons always requires using the slider. And on a touch-screen, that's a pain and a half.

And as David seems to agree above, at least Libronix menus didn't demand sliders.  They work quite well with touch (indeed better than with a mouse).

But even ignoring the touchy-feely part, Graham's seems to be better.  Why can't I have Graham's??

Would you like a bandage for your finger?  Wink

Ha!  The world of 'touch' is getting progressively crazier.  Yesterday, I had my PC-touch using a PC stylus, my iPad using a regular iPad stylus, and another Bluetooth stylus too (app-specific, you know), and they were all getting mixed up.  It was hillarious, this modern technology.

I solved it, by putting them away.  But no bandage needed, thanks.

Now if our good friend Graham can have mercy on at least some of us, by gifting us a longer right-click menu for Christmas. That'd be great!!

Because your screen is smaller than his, so your menu is correspondingly smaller.

Mark ... I don't want to be impertinent, but neither Graham's nor mine even remotely cover the length of the screen.  Indeed, my right-click menu covers exactly half of the Logos drawable window (though the popup can extend outside the Logos window).  Even if I scruntch the Logos window down tiny, the menu size remains fixed.

I'm still guessing it's the community stuff that expands it.

Hi Denise

Apologies for dropping out of the conversation - church Christmas party and evening service!

I'm not sure what is causing the difference but don't understand the reference to "community stuff". I can't see any community material in any of our screen shots.

Are you able to clarify?

Graham

Hope the party was fun. And nice for a evening service too.

Your screen pic, in the lower right as the various 'community' selections. Mine are turned off plus I'm off-line. I'm just guessing when they built that functionality, they didn't want to expand the default popup for all uses since it'd create a lot of empty space.  So in mine, without the community lines, it's the earlier shorter version?
