  • Added navigation slider to reading view
  • Older books now work even when downloaded
  • Fixed crash in background sync task
  • Long book titles no longer overlap the text box in reading view

(The Vyrso app was also updated, but the icon color was accidentally changed to blue, which will be corrected soon.)

Thanks! The slider enhances the reading experience.

Please, please consider adding a Table Of Content feature in a next release. Being able to use the TOC to go to a certain chapter is a feature I miss all the time when using the Logos for WinRT app.

The following features would add greatly to the Windows-app:

  1. Click on a scripture reference opens a popup instead of opening the Bible (just like Android/iOS). Being able to quickly look at a text-reference is one of the great added values of using Logos e-books in stead of Kindle.
  2. Highlighting.

Any development of the Logos app for Windows (RT) is greatly appreciated. Thanks for this new update!

I am not sure what the old app was like but I certainly agree with the above suggestions. Especially highlighting. The app is a much better reader than the program on a surface pro 2 ... To read and not be able to highlight is frustrating. To use the keyboard to highlight in the logos program (not app) is extremely cumbersome. I've almost quit reading logos books altogether when using tablet. Not sure I would have tried to get a tablet/laptop if I had known of this issue.

The issue is just with the WindowsRT... iPads and Android tablets highlight and take notes well... that said eventually I think you will get this ability, it is just with the small WindowsRT user base Logos has not invested a huge amount to the program in the past, now that it seems to be under active development you must remember it will take months if not years to equal the more mature mobile apps. I am not even 100% sure if the Android app is on par ye with the iOS app, but last I heard i think so, except for a couple features that are supplied via the OS.

Is it possible to view 2 windows at once for the logos metro app? Like the ipad, you can view the bible and a commentary at the same time. Thank you

Thank you Ed!
I study theology and was happy to get rid of lugging heavy books around with me.
I use a tablet with Windows 8.1. Have tried to run logos on it, since it has an atom processor, but it has a hard time running the full version so I am very glad you have made the app.

I would also echo the wish to have several books open at the same time. The solution of having the Vyrso app open and then share the screen works ok, but then I lack the ability to write notes in OneNote.

It might also be cool to make the app into a universal app, so it will also work on my Windows Phone 8.1.

Thank you for your efforts to make the app.

God bless.

So glad to see activity taking place.  I can't wait for it to catch up to the Android, at least.  With Windows Phone prices, and 8 inch tablet prices dropping, I'm leaning more and more toward moving off Android simply because it is nice to have the same apps on all my devices.  That said though, the poor Windows apps need some TLC.

Thanks for all the work you all are doing.  I'm a software developer, so I know it is never as easy as people think.

I recently purchased a Surface Pro 3 and I'm finding the logos app to be very basic and unusable (e.g. no touched based jump to reference capability hinders verse location speed, lack of dual pane view, poor handling of dual view mode).

I've had to resort to using Olivetree, which I haven't used since I owned a Palm Pilot.

Is there any current development for this app? I'd like to know before I invest any more in the logos ecosystem.

Thanks for all you do.

We are not actively improving the Windows Store app, except to fix major bugs.

Please consider installing the full Logos 5 application for Windows. It should run well on the Surface Pro 3, and I'm sure the Logos 5 team would appreciate feedback on how to make it better for Surface Pro users.

I have a Surface Pro 3 as well and just installed Logos 5. I was looking forward to using my stylus to jot down notes instead of type (because I wasn't able to with the Windows app), but I'm not seeing this is possible. Will this be a future feature for either the app or the next iteration of the full Windows software?

The inability to use handwriting in the full desktop app (Logos 5) is a known issue (and in our internal bug tracker); I don't know when it might be fixed, though.

. It is very good to know that you guys are working on the inability to use handwriting in the full desktop Logos 5.  I only use Logos 5 on my Surface Pro 2, and the Surface Pro is the only computer that I use.  Anything that can make Logos 5 more touch friendly is welcomed.  Though I find Logos easier to use on my Surface Pro 2 than I did all those years on a desktop and laptop.

That is a great pity. Win8 on tablets I think is beginning to take off. Both Laridian and Olivetree have Modern UI apps that have some great functionality. Perhaps Logos should charge for a Modern UI app. Certainly I would pay for one. If it is the only way that we can get something with more functionality, then I am sure others would pay. Logos could make it clear from the outset. Perhaps you could set up a Kickstarter project. I for one would like to have some more functionality on my Win8.1 8 inch tablet.

What is the possibility of getting the Windows Store version to show on the Windows Phone Store? Microsoft says (yes, I understand reality can be very different) that converting the Windows Store App to Windows Phone Store is easy.

So here we are more than a year and a half beyond the original comment and nothing has changed. My wife purchased a Surface tablet recently and I was disgusted with the appalling standard of the RT windows app. Barely usable as a reader with no other functionality. By the way there is a strong market in used RT tablets here in Australia with some selling for better than retail as people discover how good these devices are as tablets.  On the strength of her experience I purchased a Surface Pro 2 figuring that I would load the full Logos 5 on there and have it all at my fingertips. Once again this has proved to be a great disappointment. The read view in Logos 5 has no highlight or search function throwing me back to the desktop every time I want to check a reference. So now I go and pick up my original version (2012) Nexus 7 and behold everything is touch enabled and has been for years. Come on LOGOS get the desktop version touch screen enabled with the same functionality as the Android and Apple apps. Apple is not king of the heap here Android and Microsoft are.

After using a surface rt for a year I love it and will not change. If you would even make an improved app and attach a cost to it in the Microsoft store, I would pay it. I also saw that the have simplified the conversion of a windows app to make it usable on a windows phone. I would even be willing to beta test the app.

I loved my Surface 2 RT, but took it back due to a hardware fault. However, I would have taken it back anyway because the Logos Windows Store app is rudimentary and should be seen as an embarrassment to Logos (Faithlife). Olivetree has a great Windows Store application that is as good as the desktop application.

Surely Logos could do something more with all of their resources? But to say that there will be no active development is a real shame. RT might not be here to stay, but Windows Store apps most certainly are.

Logos has a very, very active sales department. Perhaps some of that resource should be re-assigned.
