Christ-Centered Preaching, Commentary on New Testament Use of Old (I already had bought this at a higher price), and the Dicitonary for Theological Interpretation of the Bible!

I love the Exposition on Prayer in the Bible too, but the $159.95, while a good value, is not amazing for the resource. Nevertheless, I've very much enjoyed owning it since I picked it up on prepub

Christ-Centered Preaching - I have a few others books on preaching in print but wanted at least one good preaching book in Logos for quick access.

Kingdom of Priests - looked like a good OT survey (see also above reason).

WBC - $6.5/volume is amazing; though I don't think I'll agree with all the authors, there's enough conservative authors and enough valuable content from the rest that it's well worth the price.

. . . I thought it'd be fun to hear what your favorite titles were that we offered in the promo. . . .

Ryan, I thought you guys put together some great deals for Christmas this year. Most of them I already had; these are my picks (either for the great price or because I view the resource as essential for study):

    1. Word Biblical Commentary--fantastic price
    2. Commentary on the NT Use of the OT
    3. The Essential IVP Reference Collection, Version 3
    4. AYBD

I did purchase "Kingdom of Priests"--it was on my list of books to get and the price was right. I also purchased the "Dictionary for Theological Interpretation." At the time Baker's Hermeneutics Collection was on pre-pub I didn't have the cash for it. In cases like that I usually wait to get the individual volumes I want once they are for sale. I was happy to get it at 1/2 price. Great job again. [Y]

Kingdom of Priests and Jesus in Context. Jesus in Context looks like it will be a great time saver and Kingdom of Priests because I enjoy history.

Except for Exposition on Prayer, I already owned the other works.

I think you guys did a great job picking useful works and I am sure everyone enjoyed it.

    Can't wait for March Madness!!!

Best  new resource for me was Dictionary for Theological Interpretation of the Bible. Good hermeneutical articles and summaries of how to approach the message of each Bible book.

I already had Word Biblical Commentary, Commentary on NT Use of OT, and Essential IVP Reference Collection. Strongly recommend these: I use these every week.

Also bought Centered Preaching: Redeeming the Expository Sermon for teaching homiletics this semester, but haven't dived in yet.

Found The Drama of Scripture a bit lightweight. Didn't buy the Anchor Yale Bible Dictionary, as I use the ISBE.

Thanks, Logos, for the opportunity to add good resources, and the fun of this promotion.

Nothing here either - had them all, but I suspect that for many longtime users with a lot of resources, it would be difficult to find something with wide appeal.  Perhaps a one time deal with a certain percent off, or a dollar amount?  Anyway, we have benefited from multiple good deals in the past.

Longtime Logos user (more than $30,000 in purchases) - now a second class user because I won't pay them more every month or year.

The best deal that I did not get is the Word Biblical Commentary, but I  have it in another program.  How spoiled am I, it almost seems like having a resource in another program is like not having the resouce. I have to admit I am spoiled by Logos, it makes things so much easier and faster to get too!

Still I do not have 400.00 to spend to shift it to Logos, but I did get the Commentary on the NT use of the OT, and the Dictionary for Theological Interpretation of the Bible, plus I got nearly 400 new books when I upgraded last month from Libronix 3 Gold to Logos 4 Platinum, so I have done really well!

On top of all this I can hardly wait for the Tyndale Commentaries to come out very soon!

But with all of these resources, I am learning more day by day ,that Christ is my real resource, the one I need and can't manage without!!!

    In Christ,

    Jim

I'm afraid that the WBC deal was too much for me! But I did stretch for "The Drama of Scripture", "Jesus in Context"; "Dictionary for Theological Interpretation" & "Kingdom of Priests" of which "Kingdom of Priests" is my favourite.

I also got "A Christmas Carol" - so it all sounds a lot but it still not as nearly as much as the WBC. Oh well! Maybe next year!!!!!! [:)]

    Already had:

    IVP Reference Collection

    Picked up:

Commentary of the NT use of the OT

    Jesus in Context

    Dictionary for Theological Interp

    Tempted by:

    Christ Centered Preaching

    Kingdom of Priests

    Extremely Tempted by:

Anchor Yale (I have to pull the trigger sometime today if I want it...I fear what my fingers will make me do)

Question: For those who picked up 'Kingdom of Priests', is it much different than other OT surveys/histories? I have Platinum and was thinking about picking up 'Kingdom of P' but already have many other OT surveys.  Was it worth the purchase?

Also, is 'Christ Centered Preaching' worth picking up? I already own 'Art and Craft of Bib Preaching' and 'Bib Preaching' both by  Haddon Robinson in print and it looks as though 'Christ Centered Preaching' is much of the same content as Robinson's.  Worth it?

    Thanks.

Amazon has excellent reviews on Kingdom of Priests.  It depends on which other OT surveys you have.  It would be similar to Leon Wood's "History of Israel."  Merrill's Kingdom of Priests will also be more conservative than some other OT surveys.  Also, it is a history of Israel, as opposed to Archer's "Survey of the OT" or similar works.  So a slightly different focus.

I picked up Christ Centered Preaching because all my other main preaching books are print editions vs. electronic.  I read Robinson in college but it's been a while.  I spoke with a pastor at my church who has taken some classes from Chapell, and he said the 2nd edition of Christ Centered Preaching is more balanced - shows the importance of relating Christ to Scripture, ie OT passages, without forcing it into the text.  Probably a good book to read for a slightly different approach from Robinson, but I haven't had a chance to read through my Logos copy yet.

    Yep, Bill

We are in the same boat.  As it turns out I did go a little wild this Christmas. [;)] I went from Original Languages L3 to Platinum L4 with HALOT. [:O] but I did jump at the Christmas Carol  (after all its a classic and I have 4 quarters laying here someplace [:)].  I have seen the Movie but wanted the original thing.

    Christmas Carol

Thought about it... but I don't use L3 or L4 as a reader (still like paper for that), only for research....  So, <sigh> just put a lot on my "I'm dreamin' of" list... and will release it to the Lord to make it affordable some day.

    Blessings!

okay, I caved.  I got Christ Centered preaching.  And, lol, I guess I had Dickens also, and didn't know it.  The only day I don't own is Day 12.  Looks like an encouraging and helpful work, but the price is a bit more than I can do, my current purchase notwithstanding.

Went to the page to buy a couple of the products and it would not give me the sale price.  Anybody know what is wrong? According to my estimations I should still have time to purchase at the sale price.

Larry, did you put in the discount code?  Each day has one, like 12DAYS1, 12DAYS5, etc.  See above.  You have to enter in each code corresponding to the book you want to purchase.  If you purchase multiple books, enter multiple codes in the little box/window.   YOu will see the price difference after you "update" your cart.

    George,

You have to enter each coupon code, "12Days1, 12Days2, etc." if you buy multiple deals, as I did. Then you push the "update" button and it will give you the sales price. Hope this helps. You still have time so go to the page and place your order.

    Sorry, Dan

I should have said that a little differently...  I added HALOT when I bought Platinum.  I wanted to get the Pair BDAG/HALOT so I paid the extra 159.00 to get the HALOT.
