Zondervan titles seem to rarely be discounted. Which bundle were you looking at?

David, they are not dynamically priced.  I found a collection I owned a few in and going from the Zond. page to the collection page the listed price for the collection did not decrease as it should have.

Yeah, when I bought ZIBBCOT the sales person told me that the images have royalties that need to be paid. I would feel like returning the item as I can't afford it right now but would definitely purchase it again if it ever goes on a sale:

I just bought the older EBC a few days ago, and when I add the big Zondervan bundle to my cart (which includes that set) I see no discount. This is exactly why, excepting the set I just bought, I can count the Zondervan titles I own on one hand...all of which I picked up during March Madness.

This really irks me to the point that I may just return the EBC set. None of the words that come to mind that describe how this makes me feel are postable.

I went on a Zondervan boycott just before they first signed with Logos, and I'm now recalling what motivated that.

I'm sorry, David! Sometimes it really is not a great feeling having to return something!:

What do you mean by "older?"   Is it Logos format or Pradis format?  The cross-platform upgrade deal ended years ago.

I'm sure he meant "older" meaning not the "Revised Edition" that cost almost a little over triple the price of the older version.  Older version price $129.99 Revised Edition price $459.99

My advice would be: "Do not return the older version!" I find it more valuable than the new "revised" version.  Plus, the revised version doesn't contain the introductory articles that the older version contains.  My two cents!

Now back to  your question -- No, Zondervan does not give dynamic pricing, and having the old EBC wouldn't give you any discount on the Revised Version anyway, since a revised product is considered a new product altogether.

The thing that chaps my tail is that this bundle still includes the original EBC which I just paid for...but if I want to get this bundle at some future time, I have to pay for the EBC a second time. I can say with perfect confidence: THAT IS NEVER GOING TO HAPPEN.

I've been the opposite of a fan of Zondervan for quite some time...this arrogance is why. If I end up looking at a commentary once every couple of months, that would be considered a roll for me, so I'm pretty sure I don't need EBC, or anything else they publish. When I start publishing, though, someone will notice the fact that I never quote from Zondervan resources...almost like they don't exist.

They don't.

Too bad. I am quite the Zondervan fan. I have all three Zondervan Bible Reference Bundles and the Biblical Languages Collection.  I wish your perception of their "arrogance" would not blind you to the benefits of their included scholarship.

Of that I have no doubt...but scholarship abounds. Indeed there is an embarrassment of riches to be had, and even more, there's a profusion of publishers that don't think I'm a so beholden to their contributions that I am forced to take abuse. Having to pay twice for something is abusive, plain and simple. Authorizing dynamic pricing eliminates that characterization. It's a simple fix. If they deal with their bully mentality, I will be only too happy to acquire their products. As it stands, I won't add more and may well return what I have recently purchased. I abhor bullies.

Don't single out Zondervan with this complaint. I can not name even one publisher that offers dynamic pricing on an upgrade of editions.

Matthew, that's not what I'm asking for. The bundle I linked to above includes the same EBC set I just bought, but if I wanted to get the whole bundle down the road, and I certainly would like to do that (if this bullying issue goes away), then I must pay for the set again...no credit is given. That's just wrong. I'm not asking nor expecting to get the Revised EBC just because I bought the older version.

No credit given? As in you already talked to a sales rep and he/she told you that? or you're just assuming since on the web there's no dynamic pricing calculator telling you you have a discount or not? As far as I'm concerned if I were to get the Zondervan Bundle that includes the EBC (old version) that I have, they would deduct the $129.99 I paid for it.

I think you might want to check again with a different sales person if you didn't get the right answer or talk to one if you haven't done so.

Maybe it's time that the purchaser's  set the pricing and not the publishers? Until we withhold our $$$, the pricing will keep robbing our pockets. Maybe this is a time in which we the $$ providers dictate the pricing?

Why should Zondervan and other publishers keep reaping the the high profits at our expense, not to mention the authors?

We or you have the $$ not them- what will you do?

The greatest power in capitalism is withhold or simply put do not purchase, just think what you are able to accomplish.

I have run into strange issues with this.  I often check on the NIV Application Commentary sets, as I own most of them to see if they are dynamically priced.  Sometimes they definitely are, but other times they are not.  It seems to come and go.
