I want to build a rich library and want to learn various views. Which base package has great books and best deals?
I am an owner of Anglican Gold and Verbum Capstone+. I am Anglican so I am going to be biased towards the package per say. The For Everyone series are a great set of the Anglican sets (bronze and higher). And the Feating on the Word 12 volume set is a wonderful resource included in Silver and higher. I would have no hesitation in recommending the Anglican base sets to any Christian, the Verbum sets hold a deep interest to those interested in catholic studies and especially spiritual classics and the fathers (fathers are in Anglican Silver and up though).

I am the owner of a pre-Verbum base package which was the only choice. Now that I have a choice I own Verbum Capstone +, Anglican Silver and Lutheran Bronze. Were Jewish and Orthodox packages available I would add the top I could afford at the time and hope to move up their package levels as well. I'd recommend a strong base in early church fathers and a mix of commentary types with some original language base - Masoretic, LXX, Greek, Vulgate, Syriac
The one that appeals to me happens to be the one I cant afford, Anglican Diamond. What makes it appealing is its like getting two items for the price of one. Yes im speaking about the International Critical Commentary.
I have Verbum Capstone+ and am now considering Anglican Silver. But building a diverse library will likely need more than a base package. Consider the Topical Bundles as well, some solid add-on reference works, and whatever else might be applicable to your interests. In the end, the most valuable resources will be the ones you use.
I just bought the Reformed Platinum. The price was about half with dynamic pricing and I wanted several works libraries. After pricing them individually, it made much more sense to buy the whole package. It only increased my payment by $30. If I was just getting into Logos, I might still go with the regular Silver or higher. But since I have what I need and wanted to just expand my library, I went with the Reformed Platinum. Its really a great deal.
I was disappointed in the the Lutheran Bundles admittedly I already own Continental and Augsburg NT but the lack of Concordia Commentary (23 vols.) or Hermeneia and Continental Commentaries (68 vols.) or even the The People's Bible: Complete Set is a major flaw. I was raised Lutheran and Biblical study is very important to that tradition. Oh yes the PB is a very conservative set but could be considered very similar to the Everyone series in the Anglican pack and should have been included in bronze and above in my mind .
Why not mix it up. Get the second level of each package. I ordered Sda Silver, (yep Adventist), but would like to get some of the other base packages, but simply cannot afford it at this time.

As I already owned the latter two, I'll admit to not having paid it much attention.
I will admit that the PB is not a favourite commentary but I will say it has a great ability to read the gospel and it's message into the OT, which can be nice, especially in passage you wonder how is this applicable. And some volumes like 1 Peter are wonderful. And I always appreciate the sense of God's grace Lutheran expositors offer.
PS: I don't own the Concordia series either but have heard good things about it.
I own Portfolio. I would like to get Lutheran Gold, but I'm disappointed with the package. I expected a great package including books from Concordia Electronic Theological Library, Luther Works, Lenski's Commentary, Concordia Commentary, The Northwestern Publishing House Electronic Library, Fortress Press Luther Studies, etc Hope to see a better Lutheran Platinum. Today I own Anglican Silver and Reformed Gold. Thank you all!!
For my actual needs I'm content with L5 Platinum. I have added Reformed Starter since it's got a few deals I want and it's cheaper getting them that way. I also have Anglican Bronze which was almost a steal for me not to mentioned it included a lot of resources I don't own - main highlight O.T. For Everyone and N.T. Wright's new volumes on Paul. I'll may be adding Lutheran Starter and maybe SDA Starter to cover the basics for the different denominations. I already have the SDA collection that contains the SDA commentary expanded edition along with all the tracks and writings of Helen G. White, etc. which to my surprised this collection is not included in the SDA packages. So I may skip SDA starter and just wait for some other base package that may come along (hoping for a Restoration Base Package).

I have L4 Platinum and L5 Platinum (the delta between the two when the latter came out). I also have tons of one-off add-on resources and the end of 2013 bundle.
I'm going to get the Reformed Platinum base package, but I'm going to wait for L6 to come out later this year to make sure I can get the release as soon as it comes out.

Is this going to happen???
No one knows when L6 will come out, but Logos has been on a three year time table, so I am looking for L6 autum of next year.
2006 Libronix 3
2009 Logos 4
2012 Logos 5
2015 Logos 6 ?
I think the emphasis this year will be base packages.
(edit) I am operating on the expectation that it will be released this year.
So You think the collection of books contained in the original L5 regular (non-denominational protestant but in reality evangelical protestant) base-packages will be slightly revised? Like they were in the middle of the L3 and L4 -software-version-periods?:
I would tell you to get a base library that you are interested in for your background. I own L5 Portfolio with the Reformed Platinum Base added to it. I have also added an Anglican, Lutheran, and Verbum bases simply so I have those resources to better understand those systems. I have added several other collections for my background and not for my background so I can better understand other systems. Your library system is your library system specific to what you are attempting to accomplish. All the base packages are designed for certain people groups. Build your library on what interests you and your needs.
Pre-pubs, and especially CP:s, generally take a very long time to gather interest and be produced in Logos, so maybe a new line of base-packages will be introduced to give people access to resources more quickly, just like with L5 Anglican Bronze? Just speculation. Logos is trying to produce 10,000 books annually. If this is so L6 would probably introduce few new datasets.
This is my expectation also (although, similarly, I claim no inside knowledge!).
On a purely personal note, I would not be able to upgrade further this year having just supplemented my library with a couple of the new base packages (Anglican Diamond and Reformed Platinum).
On a related note, I do think that Anglican Diamond constitutes real value, particularly for those who were looking to pick up the ICC. Other than the Christmas 2010 Master Bundle, I think that this is probably my 'best buy' (and I am not Anglican!). Contrariwise, I do understand why some are disappointed with the Lutheran offerings. I agree with Dan that an additional substantial commentary set would have been very welcome.
[Edit:
I'm not sure how free I am to discuss this. But I am operating on the expectation that it will be released this year. Donnie

However, it seems that you are hinting at 'insider information'. As such, I may need to revise my opinion [;)] ]

Wow! I would not expect that. Seems awfully quick, especially with as much work as they've seemed to put in to updates to L5.
I wouldn't mind L6, but I guess it can wait 'til next year. I do want it to hopefully complete some of the incomplete sets contained in my Platinum Base Package, but I definitely wouldn't mind Brand New Content (e.g. Commentaries, other language study tools, and sermon outlines, along with new theologies, etc.).
Reformed Silver.
Powerful theology, apologetic, and history. I am currently reading John Calvin's commentary and WOW. It is amazing.
At this point, None!
Although this is a project in progress, https://www.logos.com/product/7565/evangelical-exegetical-commentary, I really like what has been published. If Logos includes this set in one of the base packages for very good price, I wonder if you would purchase this base package? Dynamic pricing for the people who are already in of courses, [:)]. We may have to wait for it, but with good price and more participation, it would be a win-win situation for us and Logos.
