Okay, is it possible to sell ones Logos Library? A genuine and honest question. Of course there would need to be someway to show that you were not keeping anything on a device somewhere.

I previously used OliveTree BibleReader. Going back to it, it just does things in a way that suits my study method much better. For me, so much easier to use than the Logos Android version (and the desktop version). No offense meant to Logos, but Olivetree suits me better.

So, can I sell my Logos account and library?

Yes you can... but not here on the forums. You may try ebay or the Facebook group put up for sales.. https://www.facebook.com/groups/548061461941184/ you will have to request to join it and then you can sell things either as a whole or broken up.. Sets must be sold together if bought that way. Every transaction is subject to a $20 transfer fee. Everything  for $20 or each transaction $20.

Richard, You can not sell your account but you can transfer your license to another person's account for a one off transfer fee of $20.  It could be an existing user or an new user who has simply gone to logos.com and setup an account.

Please note however forum rules prevent you from using them as a means of selling your license.  You would need to find a purchaser through other means.

Thank you Dan and Disciple. I will need to set up a Facebook account first. But what do I need to do with Logos to both inform them and to pay the necessary fee?

Just call Customer Service (1-800-875-6467). Or email them at cs@logos.com if you're not in a convenient time zone to call (they're in Bellingham, WA, USA).

Richard, what drew you away from Bible!?  You don't have to be critical just to be critical, but most businesses like to know what the issue was.

In my case I use 4 versions of the Logos app (iOS; 4 simply to read 4 books), OliveTree, Laridian and Accordance.  And I'm pretty much 'married' to Logos ($15k in books).  My major complaint is 'complicated' and in the TOCs, you can't tell where you're at (the others show you).

OliveTree is quite comfortable and well organized. It didn't start that way. I especially like the library (books organized), intuitive interface (nothing fancy, everything in place, etc).  I don't like only a single panel (or at least I've never found more than one).  On the other hand, I rarely use more than 1 (in Laridian I use tabs which I think is best).

Laridian is neat but it's menus have sort of gone into never-never land. To close a book, it's tough work.  Easy to open though and libraries are also organized.  Tabs are quick, and you can move from book to book easily within tabs (similar to Logos5).

Accordance has to be the curious one.  It does support more than 1 resource open, but they seem to have to be linkable. If you choose one that's not. curtains for you!  Also it NEVER remembers what the font setting was. I suspect I've reset the font a million times.  I don't understand the library categories, nor which category might have which book.  I play hide and seek in Accordance A LOT.

Overall,, Logos is ok for reading.  But I've never really 'cottoned' to it for Bible use. I don't know why.  Maybe complicated interface?

And it's true, OliveTree's sweet (the UI).

AS a OT user it is I will say it works far better for me for usage is far faster and more powerful in OT (EDIT: I meant on my iPad/iPhone). Now Logos has a better over all system and has a fast full featured desktop app (unlike the OT bare bones app). If everything I want was in OT I could see myself leaving Logos. But Logos has virtually everything I want in a book store (there are still glaring omissions of a few volumes only available in Accordance or OT). Hopefully New Interpreter's Bible (12 vols.) will make it to Logos soon, which is the biggest one in my mind. Modern Torah commentary is another missing one but thankfully it's available in Accordance. The one volume Asbury commentary by Zondervan is another one I would love to see in Logos.

Thank you everyone for your replies.

I have to say "kudos" to Logos for enabling the transfer of licenses. I phoned them up spoke to customer service and accounts and they were super helpful. They sent me a template with the information that I needed to send them and gave me a great tutorial. Well done Logos!!

So, now my entire Logos/Verbum library is on eBay at half the price I paid. I will try the FaceBook group next if it does not sell (I don't have a Facebook account - perhaps I am a Luddite after all!!)

I just noticed an ad on eBay for Logos 5.  If I purchased it, how do I get the right to use the software?  Do I get a license number and then contact Logos? Does the seller pay his $ 20 and then get a transfer number?  I already own Logos 4 with a different ID.

By the way for Android, I've found the AcroBible with limited and unchangeable resources is the best.  However, for a PC nothing beats Logos.

Sir Maru, as a Logos 4 owner, you already have the right to use Logos 5. You can upgrade to it for free by downloading the engine from here.

The question I would pose to this seller on eBay is what books or base package does he/she have, because that's what he's really selling the license to, not the software. If there's a huge overlap in what books he owns with what you own already, then it might not be worth it to you.

The way you'd get the license transferred is that the seller would have to call Logos and pay the license transfer fee of $20 (presumably he'd expect to be reimbursed by you) to transfer the books over to your account.

The seller is offering Logos Bible Software V5 Gold Base Package.  The highest bid is now $ 600 and it will be open until May 1.  I'm considering it but was curious how that is transferred.

Since I have Logos 4 under a different ID, then just upgrading the engine may be sufficient.  Would my present resources get all the tags required for Logos 5 to properly use those resources?

I had Logos 4 installed on my old PC discarded last September.  I never did install it on my present PC.  I presume I could download and install the Logos 5 engine and then download and install all my old resources.  My resources were upgraded then to Bible Study Library (LE) with the Logos 4 Automatic Upgrade.

What base package did you have for Logos 4?

Yes, all your present resources would work in Logos 5. There's no new tagging needed. The engine for Logos 5 is just an incremental improvement over Logos 4 with some new features, but the resource file format did not change, unlike when they changed from Logos 3 (Libronix) to Logos 4.

Yes, if you install the Logos 5 engine on your new PC, it will download and index all your old resources for you. I wouldn't pay $600 for a Logos 5 Gold package from eBay, when you'll have the added complication of transferring the license over from the seller. If you're wanting to upgrade to Gold from whatever you had before, check the dynamic pricing on the Logos website (log in under your old ID to see what the cost would be for you for Gold) and/or call a sales rep to find out what the differential would be for you, given what resources you already own. If you never had a base package before and the eBay bidding doesn't go a lot higher, then maybe it would be worth it. But if you had Bronze or Silver, you could probably upgrade to Gold for less than what the eBay auction will end up settling on. Or if you just want to upgrade to the Logos 5 engine and get the new datasets (which are required for full feature functionality in L5) without getting any new resources, you could buy the Minimal Crossgrade for $159.95.

Yes.  Logos 5 has new features that need new resources for their use; wiki has => http://wiki.logos.com/Upgrade_or_Crossgrade

I notice I could get the Bronze Upgrade for $ 377.00.  I'll have to think about that.

If it is the one I am thinking of, he is selling an unactivated version Logos 5 Gold, I have never heard of such a thing but in that case if it was just the serial number, no transfer fee would be required since he never activated it. I did ask him about it since I was unaware of a physical product with a code being out there. When I and someone else asked him if it was a Logos Libronix Gold code he replied that it was most assuredly a never installed 5.0 Gold code. I did not investigate it further since it was not something I would be interested in anyway.

I was the other poster. You CAN buy this software in a retail box, but its not the normal sales route. It wouldn't surprise me if it came from a conference or something of that nature.

L2 lvl4, L3 Scholars, L4 Scholars, L5 Platinum,  L6 Collectors. L7 Baptist Portfolio. L8 Baptist Platinum.

Thank you, now I know... I was just puzzled over it, but I hope whoever buys it enjoys using it.

I remember there were retail boxes of Logos 4 and CDs of various add-on resources for sale at Camp Logos when I attended. Most of the CDs were old Libronix CDs as I recall, but I do believe the Logos 4 packages were made up just for Morris Proctor to sell at Camp Logos, since Logos was already a download-only product by then. I'm assuming they've kept going with this for Logos 5, though I haven't been to any conference or event where Logos would be available for sale since then.
