This a good counseling reference - or does Logos have a better one?

https://www.logos.com/product/1502/quick-scripture-reference-for-counseling

Is it worth the money you think or are most of its contents available online for free elsewhere please?

....and yes I know nothing substitutes for knowing The Bible well and using it alone.

I think that this is a good reference.  I use it a lot.  I can even print it out and give to some who might need it. https://www.logos.com/product/5265/hope-for-the-heart-biblical-counseling-library

Depending on what you own, you might get it cheaper with a whole bunch of other books on counseling included in the new Chaplain's Library.  So check what your dynamic pricing is first before purchasing it separately.

The JBC is one of my most-used resources. I can't recommend it highly enough.

I own all these resources - but have also learned that good counseling does not boil down to having the right scriptures or the right answers.  Good Biblical counseling boils down to having a good ear; others might say "a listening heart."  We need to listen to those who have come to us for help.  We also need to listen to God.

There are rarely canned answers, which these type of resources too often provide.  We need to allow God to use us to speak to the needs and hurts of the specific people before us.  To do otherwise may be a strong indicator that we have not heard them.

The first secret to a good Biblical Counselor is a listening heart - heart that listens to people and a heart that listens to God.

Blessings,
Floyd

Or as Splinter would say: "Some say that the path from inner turmoil begins with a friendly ear. My ear is open if you care to use it." [Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Movie...hehehe].

The new one or one of the classics?

Classic Splinter, at least the 90's one I remember.  The new one is too liberal...hehehe

I have a Master's in Counseling (TEDS) and actually found this older book to be fantastic practical resource. https://www.logos.com/product/1613/building-your-church-through-counsel-and-care
