Unix's questions would definitely have been better suited for a hardware forum.

Wow...40 replies.  PTL.  I posted so no one would consider this as a possible Logos machine.  Its flimsy and pointless.
I appreciated the kind defense replies I got in here as well as the critical replies suggesting we have had too many hardware posts.

I continue to look for a cheaper, inexpensive, powerful, "cooler", long battery life machine that runs Logos 5.x well.

I am also thankful for my Surface Pro - warts and all.  (Some people are now picking themselves off the floor and getting back on their chairs).

Others will shrug and say "next" so I'll say it before they write it first.

God bless your weekend y'all.

Maybe - just maybe - someone will come up with a Windows Tablet that I appreciate before Jesus comes back.

To satisfy my detractors (and even some well wishers) I will initiate hardware posts ONLY when I feel I have landed someday squarely and safely on that machine.

I think withholding information...Good or bad ... would be a disservice to the community. I have been enlightened by your posts. Knowledge of another person's misfortune can help us avoid the same pitfalls. Could you have chosen a better title for this post?. ... Yes.   Was it an unnecessary waste of time? Absolutely not ! Post as you see fit. I would counsel you not to post to satisfy the whims of a few ... but the potential needs of the many.

Thanks Paul.

Live long and prosper - (in the knowledge and sharing of Jesus the Christ).

Its great to be "engaged" in such a worthwhile forum too.

I'd appreciate hardware reviews that are limited to hardware that actually has Logos installed on it. (You do have Logos, don't you?) Otherwise it is hard to claim it is objective.

Wow. 44 posts.

What we "Appreciate" varies greatly from person to person. If a particular machine is so flimsy and unusable that it should never be a candidate for a Logos install, I Appreciate knowing that.

Well, just to be technical (and increase the thread post count), the OP didn't actually mention how the hardware would impact Logos.

He simply didn't like several design features of the UI (track placement, keyboard connect method, etc). Whether it's good for Logos, we'll continue to 'aspire' for.

I knew you were lurking in the bushes. >>>> Er, Tumbleweed.

Do you mean to imply that some folks actually evaluate hardware based on anything other than how it will run Logos? That's hard to comprehend.

Appreciate this:

The Acer Aspire One netbook has only 1GB of RAM, no CD Rom drive and comes with Window XP. The Atom processor struggles running searches in Logos. I recommend you search for a better option but I stop short of calling it "garbage."

**This review is based on hardware I actually own and have installed Logos on.**

Possibly you didn't read my reply above:

You seem more than willing to share your experiences with varied machines. I did not support the title of the thread, but rather the right to tout or bash hardware.

Okay .. I'll be #50 or maybe #51 post.

Paul ... you bring up a very sore point. Tumbleweeds. We don't have them.  Southern AZ does.  When the AZ highway department re-did our highway, somehow they trucked in southern AZ dirt.  We have our own here, but apparently it wasn't good enough.  So then we had tumbleweeds (plus the dirt was the wrong color). There was a big community uproar.  The highway department dutifully poisoned the offending tumbleweeds.  Life is back to  our normal Sedona weeds.

And regarding the 'review', I'm not even sure what merited the OP to spend precious fuel driving to the BestBuy (robbing future generations of precious carbon pollution).  The review he references says the same thing he said (I guess maybe the magnetic connector might have been immensely confusing).

I'm even more impresssed that the specs here are the same specs I had for my netbook 5 years ago ... with the exact same results.

I'm with Matthew ... a Friday night post.

My last post was answering Schezic.

Only machines I have tried Logos on. (I would tell you Logos doesn't run well on Bridgestone tires but I haven't yet figured out how to install it yet.)

I always fail to understand why someone would respond to a post that they believe is a waste of time.

I for one find this type of thread very interesting and important for those of us who are looking to run Logos 5 on extremely mobile hardware.

Really, we're talking Logos forums, a discourse space hosted by Logos, for their set purposes. Within guidelines, within sanctified commonsense, relevant insights expressed in temperate language would be appreciated by all. We're all agreed on that.

I am a Christian, and I assume many here are too. That should change the way we think and the way we express our thoughts. If we have not reached the point of perfection, let's at least aim to get there.

So I happened to be in Best Buy and I checked out the Aspire Switch. Actually, I will take exception with Josh's opinion. I thought the hardware was actually pretty nice. The trackpad was not great, but if I were using this machine with Logos I would use a mouse. The hitch mechanism to join the tablet to the keyboard base used magnets and worked quite well. The fact that the machine is top heavy while in laptop mode is a trade-off of using this form factor. It shouldn't elicit criticism.

The Aspire Switch has an Atom Z3745 quad core processor and 2GB of RAM. It has virtually the same specs as my Asus VivoTab Note 8, so it should run Logos pretty well. Unfortunately, the tablet doesn't have a digitizer, which will make using a mouse mandatory.

Tends to be my approach as well which is why the original post rubbed me the wrong way.

Thanks, Bill. Your input in this thread is exemplary. (Not agreeing or disagreeing with the content though, I haven't yet checked it out myself.)

Hi Bill

I would have preferred that the viewing screen edges go all the way to the sides.  Lots of wasted space there (just like the Nexus imho).
The magnets sometimes didn't align properly and occasionally missed..

The whole thing seemed flimsy and once again I was disappointed that someone/anyone can't figure out how to get a cheaper, smaller, form factor that would sell a lot of units and still run Logos properly (2GB of ram is simply not enough).  I hope someone will buy this dud and let me know how Logos runs....I wish that person well with it.  I have had time to reflect on my original post and "garbage" was - indeed - too strong a word

It was a disappointment.  Yes, that's better.

Still the thought of tossing this cheap tablet like a Frisbee onto a giant garbage heap - along with the other underpowered, can't run Logos well, 8.1 machines - does seem appropriate to me.

...I will not be "switching" to this dud.  I "aspire" to better hardware.
