Lingua Latina Sidebar Tricks

Lingua Latina is a pedagogical masterpiece.

I was extremely excited when the collection came to Logos, but the functionality does not at first glance seem to parallel the experience of the books.

So here's a trick that I use to make the Logos Lingua Latina experience more familiar.

Open up Lingua Latina in one panel, then open up Power Lookup in another. (You may have to drag the Power Lookup Panel beside Lingua Latina.)

You get a setup that looks like this:

Voila! Now the sidebar dynamically updates to match the current links on the page.

You can even click on the references in the Power Lookup sidebar to find where that grammitical note is used in the text.

And, if you happen to see a blank link in the power lookup window:

Click on it, find the reference, and then click on the asterisk to see the beautiful color image:

Hope that helps!

Ah, thanks for that. I hadn't been using the new Lingua Latina books like that (with the info panel open), but I'll be doing it that way now. I'm glad to see you can jump between the references and the grammar tidbits at the end of the chapter.

One minor annoyance with the otherwise wonderful LLPS series: like a few other dictionaries that have been released lately, the headwords in the Lingua Latina glossary often contain dashes, meaning they won't show up when right-clicking on a word (unless the word is written with a dash). See below for a more detailed explanation: http://community.logos.com/forums/t/83470.aspx

Eli Evans pointed out that you could also use the Show Footnotes on Page option to render them. The sidebar would be a bottombar, but it's also a good solution!

Just make sure you have at least 1 column showing, otherwise the footnotes won't render.

    Thanks, Eli!
