Just a brief plug for a Vyrso title that is offered for a low price. If you are unfamiliar with this series this is a good opportunity introduce your self to this set of resources with The End of the Law by Jason Meyer.

Meanwhile, Jesus kept on growing wiser and more mature, and in favor with God and his fellow man.

I'm hoping this means all the vyrso books in the set will go on sale at one point or another!

I picked up a copy as well. Could someone please confirm whether footnotes are working properly or not? Reading on my iPad, clicking on a footnote number results in nothing. Same behavior after I downloaded the resource to my device. This seems to be different from other Vyrso books I have purchased.

The chapter end notes are not working on Logos 5 for PC either. It appears that they are not linked, unfortunately.

Which is an all-time low for a Vyrso book. Seems the publisher sent a rubbish ePub file down to Logos.

But looking into Amazon reviews, it seems B&H are either simply incompetent or don't want to publish their books in a way working for their customers. Which of course tells me to not go for this series apart from this one deal.

Maybe someone should tell those guys in Nashville it's not the ebook medium in itself or Vyrso in particular that doesn't sell, it's their shoddy work. Amazon or Logos isn't killing the publishers, they do it themselves. Sad

Update: I started using the "report typo" feature on some of these. Maybe some of you want to report these as well. We know that Vyrso does footnotes much better than Kindle or other ebooks - it's the publisher who's trying to kid us here.

My typo report says:

Selection: # (a footnote refence number, appearing in the text in a smaller superscript font)

Should be: working footnote reference

Comment: while I believe B&H were too stupid to prepare a file with working footnote references  (at least they seem not to work in the Amazon Kindle version as well), you should throw this back in their faces for redo.

Baker Academic seems to go down that same road. I bought Gordon T. Smith' https://vyrso.com/product/13797/transforming-conversion-rethinking-the-language-and-contours-of-christian-initiation today. The endnotes don't work at all - which is not a big deal for this specific book (16 short endnotes that mostly are quote attributions) and this is the case in the Kindle version of the book as well. A sad development, in my opinion.

By the way: Brian, if you read this, I'd be happy to buy other titles from this author, especially "Beginning well: Christian Conversion and Authentic Transformation" and "Listening to God in Times of Choice: The Art of Discerning God's Will" - if possible, with working footnotes, but reluctantly in the way publishers are able to deliver.

I know that, but that's not the point. Publishers generate (from their internal format, probably Word or whatever they use) the ebook file in ePub format - and in the same process the very similar file for kindle format - which is then sold to eBook customers and used to automatically create the Vyrso book. This format is 100% capable of handling footnotes right, but the publisher needs to format them correctly, otherwise you just have some smaller case numbers in the text.

I wonder if any publisher has specifically formatted their book so that it would align perfectly with Vyrso's automatic formatting.

This is very unlikely given that they not even care about the formatting for Kindle and the ePub distributors everywhere - including their own websites. And from my understanding of the production process (based solely on forum information) there's no need for a "specifically formatting", just doing the ePub right.

Are you saying that, if the publisher is careful to follow the correct formatting for ePub that they will reproduce correctly in Vyrso? Of course tagging references is another issue. Bible references would work if they included the book as well as the chapter and verse. For instance Mathew 5:7 or Matt. 5:7 or Mt. 5:7 would work but just "5:7" or "verse 7" etc. would not tag correctly.

But I think you are right in saying that publishers don't really care for the most part.

yep. And until recently this was the case in Vyrso - to the best of my knowledge, always.

I have read quite a few Vyrso books and I am actually amazed at how often formatting mistakes are made by the publishers. It is especially common to see the incorrect spacing at the end of sentences among other issues. But none of these has ever prevented me from reading the book and so I appreciate that Vyrso exists in spite of these annoyances and at a good price.

Hi NB.Mick - I'm looking into why we haven't received any files from IVP for these titles and will let you know when we get a response!
