BUG: Morph Search Result Problems with Josephus, Philo, OT Pseuedpigrapha, and Apostolic Fathers

When I execute a Morph search in Josephus, Philo, OT Pseudepigrapha, or Apostolic Fathers, the results window lacks a scroll bar to navigate the results list.

Also, there is no Verses, Aligned, or Analysis views for Morph searches in these texts.

Will these alternate views be implemented for these texts in a future release?

Here is my very cumbersome workaround . . .

I can build a morphological search for these resources using the Morph tool.
The lemma selections populate with what I assume to be lemmas from the GNT (I haven't worked to hard to validate that).
Here is an example of a query that I was able to build and execute: lemma:πάσχω@VP OR lemma:πάσχω@VR.

The search results then populate as though it were the results of a basic search (i.e. Ranked or By Book).

However, the scroll bar is missing so it is impossible to navigate pass the first page of results.

I have found that choosing the Basic search tool will populate the search field with the reformatted query for that tool: ((<lemma = lbs/el/πάσχω> ANDEQUALS <lbs-morph+el ~ VP??????>) OR (<lemma = lbs/el/πάσχω> ANDEQUALS <lbs-morph+el ~ VR??????>)).

The results of that query have scroll bars so it is possible to navigate the results.

Question for Logos . . .

Is this the final word on how this will function?

Or can we expect future development that will parity with the morph tools for Biblical texts (i.e. Verse, Aligned, and Analysis views of search results - or at least a scroll bar in the Morph windows)?

I am encouraged to find that each of these resources have been helpfully integrated into the Bible Word Study results under Textual Searches.

Clicking on the LXX or NT links execute a Bible search for the word while clicking on the other links execute Basic searches for the word in the corresponding resource.

These issues have led to a broader question in my mind.

Until now I assumed that all morphologically base features would be available for searching non biblical morphologically tagged texts. I have become somewhat concern that this assumption might have been misguided.

When the scheduled missing features for L4 are fully implemented, will the same toolset for morphological searches of the biblical texts be available for searching non biblical morphologically tagged texts?

That is . . . will it be possible to use the following tools in conjunction with nonbiblical morphologically tagged texts?

Aligned search results view
Verses search results view
Analysis search results view (obviously this is populated by Reverse Interlinear data but will there be something similar that pulls available data from these texts)
Word Lists
Vocabulary Lists
Verse Lists
Whatever advanced morphological search features that are introduced including a potential graphical query editor

If full functionality is not intended, could you please tell us specifically what we can expect?

These texts are considered Ancient Manuscripts, not Bibles. Morph Search is available for them, but the panel switches to Basic results view when non-bible resources are included in the selection.

I ran a Morph search in all the above resources, and I do have a scroll bar on the right to navigate the results list, with both 'Ranked' and 'By Book' views. Can you attach a screenshot of your results?

I have the same issues with all three versions of the Apostolic Fathers as well as the Greek OT Pseudepigrapha.

The scroll bar is missing in the Morph results but is available in the Basic results.

I'm sure this is a bug of some sort that can be remedied.

My greater concern, though, is whether or not there are plans to improve this limited toolset for working with non biblical morphological texts.

Is the design goal for L4 to offer equivalent tools for executing and reporting searches for both biblical and non biblical morphological texts?

Or have the design goals for searching morphological non biblical texts already been fully implemented?

This issue is really a determinative issue for how L4 can fit in my research work flow.

I would like to underline Russ' concerns about the inability to produce versified results for these texts (and similar Hebrew/Aramaic texts). This is a necessity... If such results cannot be produced, the morph search feature is next to useless.

Logos as Bible software changes categories in my mind if it lacks a full toolset for morphological searches in all morphologically tagged texts.

The 4.0b beta 1 build fixed the scroll bar problem on my install.

However, the only I can execute a Morph search in this new build is from the right click menu in the resource itself.

Any attempt to enter "lemma:" in the Morph search field for any text results in a crash as soon as the drop down list of suggested lemmas attempts to populate.

Also, I still have very real concerns about development plans regarding the morphological search toolset for non biblical texts.

I would really appreciate any feedback that would help me know that my investment in these texts for L4 will result in a tool that will do what I need it to do.

Which is precisely why I got my crossgrade to Logos 4 refund. I was dumbfounded that Logos would put out a brand new product with this kind of bug in such an important aspect of the program. I've since bought the crossgrade again, but I'm still astonished that more people weren't shocked by this right at the get-go. It was like buying a brand new Ferrari and only getting 3 wheels on it. wow. Looks nice!

After they get the morph search fixed maybe they can take a look at the 225 slant-six they put under the hood and see if they can get any more ponies out of it.
