Finding geological, archaeological, and interesting reading about Israel is tough. If you thought Kindle was cheap, and Logos pricey, search 'Geology Israel' or similar on the Kindle section. I really wonder, since specialized geological books plus archaeology here are maybe 1/4th the price.
I doubt Logos will specialize in geology any time soon; the market is probably tiny. So I post these periodically for any enthusiasts that are immensely depressed.
It's a very affordable tome, easy to read and immenently interesting.

If you enjoy John McPhee (eg Assembling California), Watzman writes very similarly but mixes in a big chunk of archaeology along the way. He moves from Aqaba (why early development on the east), up the rift to Syria. He's quite blunt, especially about the human foibles that populate the trip.
Recommended. For anyone that's locked into 4K years in the OT, this would not be a good choice (and no offense intended).
