For quite a long time Logos has not been able to insert citations into the 'new' iWork Pages. Now it's been over a year (guesstimate) and still no function. I understand that Apple has not shared whatever is needed to make this work. This is my primary word processor, as is true for many Mac folks. Any chance we can get this moving and what can WE do to help? Thanks so much.

Jackie,

Thank you so much. I have been asking this also with no reply. Here are links to my posts:

I simply thought there were no Mac Logos users that really cared about this and it is a HUGE part of my workflow. Anyways, I know there are solutions that will work I am just not a programer.

Maybe this one will help it along.

It is my understanding that this is completely an Apple issue... but it would be nice for a mac developer to comment.

Thus my comment and links. It is working for Online Bible which has hardly any resources and offered a wide variety of paste. And it works system wide. So there is a way to make this work. I just don't know how important it is.

Apple's iWorks Features and Compatibility => http://support.apple.com/kb/HT6049 has feedback link => http://www.apple.com/feedback/ so can request Pages 5 to reintroduce paste with footnotes, which worked in Pages 4.1

Pages for Mac 5.0 can use Endnote X7 with a plug-in => http://support.apple.com/kb/PH15342 and => http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1692

Discussion about Endnote usage => https://discussions.apple.com/message/26252050#26252050

Used Copy Bible Verse (CBV) in Logos 5.3 Beta 2 on OS X 10.10 Public Beta 3 to copy "Fully Formatted with Footnotes" for Pages, pasted into Pages 4.1 (iWorks '09), saved document, followed by opening document in Pages 5.2.2 that had footnotes.

Caveat: pasting CBV into Pages 5.2.2 lacked footnotes.

Jackie,

Thanks for your input and keeping the conversation going. Right now for me I am just concerned about getting the scriptures in my document and I can totally understand the need for others to get the footnotes in. I know that the copy verse command is working with ESV though limited. For sermon notes and the use of other versions it would be nice is the command-shift-J worked too. Thanks again!

I shared a workaround that I use some time ago:

My workaround/method is this: when you paste from Logos as plain text, it adds the citation immediately after the quote (but not as a footnote). For example:

It is a beautiful thing to grow old gracefully, to manifest more of Jesus from day to day. Our blessed Head is the One from whom we draw all our supplies for spiritual upbuilding

H. A. Ironside, In the Heavenlies : Practical Expository Addresses on the Epistle to the Ephesians. (Neptune, NJ: Loizeaux Brothers, 1937), 204.

Now, to get it to paste as plain text, you need a third party app. Typically, a clipboard manager will do the trick. I use Launchbar, but others like Flycut (free in the Mac App Store) will also work. Just copy from Logos then paste as plain text from the third-party app.

After pasting, you then would have to select and copy the citation, then paste it into a footnote manually.

Hope this helps while you wait!

Thank you for the work around.  But I have to agree that it is quite disappointing that Logos has not work this out.

Well there is nothing new with the new Pages and Yosemite for me. Just through that one developer would comment on this. I wonder if we have to solve this via grass roots? I have an email out to a developer friend. If a "free" Bible app like Online Bible has it figured out there is no way that Logos cannot.

Joining the conversation on this one from another thread. No citations into pages for me. I'm open to the third party workaround, but would most definitely appreciate it to cite through logos (that's what it was designed to do.
