I STRONGLY recommend you go that route. I sincerely believe you would regret the smaller machine.
Edit: I did notice it does not include pen capability...no handwriting. You may yearn for that later if you don't get it now.

Note my edit above about pen capability.
Paul C:I liked the touch experience so much, I invested in a Dell venue 8 pro as a pocket portable.
I have a Dell Venue 8 (not Pro; that is, Android-based, not Windows). Still Onenote is available on it. I have wondered how the experience of handwriting would be on it (Evernote also has this functionality) but it requires a specific type of stylus that is a bit pricey (in my books). I have been hesitant to buy only to find out it does not deliver...
I do wonder whether the experience would compare to yours: I am very much interested in note taking by hand. As one of my colleague who does observed: it is often less distracting than typing when listening to a lecture and it requires no tricks if you need to scribble some Hebrew or Greek and/or add a few arrows and stars.
Paul C: Note my edit above about pen capability.
So wait, only certain pc's with touchscreen have that functionality? I do believe that is something I would want to have.
Yes. If it does not specify pen or stylus I am quite sure it is touch only. It's worth checking to prove me wrong.

I didn't know there was a difference, how do I know what to look for when shopping around, can you give me an example of one that does?

Can't use the 99 cents stylus (I have a few) because my touch screen is capacitive and requires current. The stylus is made to either be power (with a battery) or conduct from the hand (the current that enables one to write with their finger). It's more at least $40 for a stylus I know would work for sure.
