Seeking all the places in the OT where Elohim does not designate God.

However, this search does produce the expected results (With Match Case enabled)

The first search doesn't work as you are hoping because of tagging

For it to work the lemma and the "position / extent" of the Person tag would need to be the same.

  • In Gen 1:2 - the person tagged is "Holy Spirit"
  • In Gen 1:27 - the person is tagged as "God" but "God he created " is tagged not just the word "God"
  • In Gen 2:3 - the person is tagged as "God" but "God rested" is tagged not just the word "God"

So that's why it doesn't work - but I can't immediately see what would!

Such sloppy tagging makes this search feature practically worthless.

Do it the old-fashioned way—search then look through the results.

ANDEQUALS / NOTEQUALS do not work as you might expect with items like <Person>, <Place> which use Biblical Referents data acting on verbs and pronouns as well as the nouns. Search has been adjusted to work predictably for WITHIN 0 WORDS rather than ANDEQUALS, but there is no equivalent for NOTEQUALS.

Could you accomplish this by taking the difference between two passage guides, one that is the result of searching all instances of elohim and one that is the result of searching all instances of elohim WITHIN 0 WORDS <Person God>?

Passage List differences don't work well when elohim could appear in one verse with both senses. That would eliminate about 44 verses in ESV. So the 'old fashioned' exclusion <Lemma = lbs/he/אֱלֹהִים> NOTEQUALS (God, God's, Godly)  works better, and an inspection will pick up any omissions.

I will do that once I get reliable results. The only way to accomplish this search is the second screenshot in my original post.
