Logos, I think the maps should be improved more and more ,so that they may be more usable and easily functionable.Instead  the multiple maps which were used to be desplayed on the bottom are removed. There was a good option to comapre and choose ,which fits the best. I wonder if there is anybody ,who has gained from this. If you find it good ,then please make it clear for me.

Blessings in Christ.

Hi Tes, I am wondering what you mean by 'gained.'  I personally am confused by the term gain in this context.  I am use to seeing 'gain' being used as a measure for amplitude.  Thanks

Hi Tom nice to meet you again on the forum. What I mean is ,if some one gets it better than it was in Logos 5. So there is nothing to complain about. If this is not the case ,then I expect Logos to listen to their customers voice and bring them back.

Blessings in Christ.

It doesn't seem unusual to me. He means "who has benefited".

That's an interesting observation, Tom.  I hadn't heard 'gain' as the volume control for quite a while.  'Gain' is much more associated with Paul's famous quote.

Tes, I'm 'gaining' from the Logos6 map feature for sure!!  I keep thinking to upgrade to Logos6, but your concerns have put my plans on hold.  So, I have extra money for Christmas spending.

Hope all is well in your part of the world, and your health is good.

Context, context, context. Smile

It seems to me the confusion is more of a signal to noise ratio problem.

Tes, To respond to your question. I find that the new Atlas feature is far superior to the maps found in Logos 5. I finally can quit going to Accordance to find a decent map.

Hi Jack, I am glad that you are happy with it. Do you think that the removal of the maps ,which were being shown on the bottom are not important comparing to the Atlas?

Blessings in Christ.

I think ya'll have veered from Tes' original topic.

He is talking about the absence of the map suggestions which showed in the bottom of Biblical Place. They showed up along the bottom as button images for other maps which had to do with the map reference being viewed. These were available in L4 & L5, but appear to be missing in L6.

Yes L6 now has a table of contents for Biblical Places, but they are only for Logos Maps. Whereas in L4 & L5 the map suggestions showed maps for other resources (e.g. ESVSB, Holman Bible Atlas, etc). Not only are these missing but we could enlarge those other maps using Biblical Places. I noticed that Sean suggested that we use Search to locate maps (which is new in L6), but search only takes you to the resources which do not allow them to be viewed with enlargement.

You can see images from all 3 versions of Logos on my post here

I find the factbook samples sufficient:

But I can understand why others might prefer the old method rather than taking the extra step of initiating the search.

I agree. I thought this addition was one of the best things that Logos added in the previous versions.

Yes, please bring back the sliding thumbnail view of Maps and Images. This is especially helpful for Pastors who use maps for presentation purposes.

Totally agree Tes, Steve, Charlene and others.  Removing the feature below is a backward step.  One should not have to initiate a search.  Each upgrade of the software should make accessing information easier rather than force us back to running raw searches for resources beyond those  created directly by Logos.  It is great that we have the option to run these searches but they should not be the first point of call if we want to access something other than Logos maps.  This is even more pertinent given these maps are an online option.  If a user has limited internet access or server issues arise - and Logos can't deny the possibility of this happening as it has - then users are left only with the raw search option - assuming they know that is an option and feel confident in running such as search.  For features like atlas that require online access I would much rather have what some might call redundancy built in to the software.  And from an ease of use point of view I think the Logos 5 presentation of alternative media is much more appealing.  The new atlas is great but Logos has thrown out the baby with the bath water in order to try and put it front and center stage.

It was helpful to quickly get an idea of what else was out there in Logos...while the staff has attempted to curate the content to be of a higher quality, sometimes something else scratched the itch.

I concur with John, Tes and the others. The maps feature which I use weekly makes me really regret upgrading to L6. Guys, this was the same kind of major mistake as changing the ctrl-L or cmd-L feature for open Library as a floating window to a regular window. It's an Edsel!! What more can we say to make this clear!!!
