Why are all the maps in this commentary smudgy and distorted to the point of where you cannot even read some of the names of the cities, towns, and rivers on them? It looks extremely bad! And I mean bad! Also, some of the pictures in this commentary look extremely bad as well. In a "Bible Commentary, " I would like to be able to view the maps and pictures clearly, as well as the text. This commentary really needs an upgrade badly!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

What support info do you have for this resource? Mine doesn't have many illustrations at all. Here is what I have:

What is really annoying to me are the pop out boxes:

There are small maps in this commentary that are really grainy so bad to the point of where you cannot read the names of the towns and places on them; and also pictures as well. These maps, pictures, and the pop-out boxes are in the HARDBACK COPY and they are CRYSTAL CLEAR. My question is: Why are they not clear in the ebook version on LOGOS?

Same here,

but it has some 65 maps and about 100 illustrations !? (after all, it's Nelson's New Illustrated Bible Commentary).

The point is that the last update of this was 2002 - we are talking stone-age here. Actually, one is lucky to even get graphic materials for resources that old. I'd assume Nelson produced the visuals for their Libronix CDs by scanning the printed book pages - no hi-res graphic files. Maps and photos will show pixelation at higher zoom levels - that's to be expected and could be worse.

Well, NB. Mick, it is simply time for an overall update of this commentary, which should be done ASAP. Is it Thomas-Nelson that as to do the update, or Logos?????

Wow! I just checked out the Kindle Direct Edition of this commentary on AMAZON, and it is superior to the one here on Logos. All the illustrations and maps are CRYSTAL-CLEAR and everything seems to be in good shape. So the ebook of this commentary seems to have been updated. Logos needs to get the most recent updated version!

If I remember correctly, Thomas Nelson produced these books with Logos and sold or unlocked titles from their web site. now that Thomas Nelson has been bought by Zondervan I'm not sure what to expect. Titles like this would need to be completely rebuilt and that may be cost prohibited.

Just curious, Kenute, did you buy an old Libronix Thomas Nelson CD?

Faithlife has taken production and updating 100% in their own responsibility (even if some steps may not be done in-house but outsourced). However, I'm not sure they will have access to better quality visuals and textfiles.

I feel called upon to yet defend Libby again, in the onslaught of unfair, and unsubstatiated Logosian attacks upon her honor (and map display prowess).

I screen copied Libby and Logos from a Nelson volume ealier than this one, which I don't have.

A pixeliferous comparison indicated:

- Libby had unclear writing, largely due to a poor color to BW conversion, highlighted on the fonts

- Logos simply doubled the Libbian pixel problem, and then due to reduced contrast, doubled-down again.

Chances are, the Amazonian version used better conversion algorythms from the original.

Thank you Denise for supplying all of the information, and helping me understand why the maps and illustrations are the way they are. Nevertheless, this Bible Commentary really needs to be updated to include all of the maps and illustrations clearly. Have also found quite a few "typos" which I have reported.

Why should i buy it again NB.Mick, when I already have it. And if I do buy it, is it going to be the same, or will the maps and illustrations look any better?

Hello Kenute,

I am sorry for the issues you are having with the resource. I have placed this resource in the maintenance queue, but do not have an ETA on it's completion just yet.

Thank you for you patience!

I think you misunderstood. The resource looks like it does because it was last updated over a dozen years ago - however, whether someone got it via a CD or bought it this morning from the website, it will be the same, so how you got yours is not relevant to the issue.

Kenute P. Curry:

You should see the buy-button on it greyed out, since you own it. But if you do buy it, it will be the same. And once they update it, the update will go to every owner, regardless where they got the resource.

Hope this helps.
