Downloading Resources... 0% of 2.7MB
Log File: 5857.Logos4.log
Trying to complete the installation, but every time I run Logos4 I get the message "Downloading Resources...0% of 2.7MB and nothing happens. My task manager says both Logos4.exe and Logos4Indexer.exe are running.
Prior to this, the installer stayed at 99% of 5.36GB for several hours. I don't know if indexing ever began because the power went out. When I started the PC and ran Logos4 I got the 0% of 2.7MB message.
Tried to repair the installation, but still only get the 0% of 2.7MB hang every time I run Logos4.

the power went out.
During the earlier beta testing this would definitely mean that the indexing would have to start from the beginning again. As to whether that still is the case someone else will have to answer. At the very least you need to post again with your operating system, and be able to turn on "hidden files" in what ever system you are running. It is possible that you will need to many delete some Logos files before re-installing.

Try renaming C:\Users\N. Erik Nielsen\AppData\Local\Logos4\Data\5q2son41.s4o\UpdateManager\Updates.db and
C:\Users\N. Erik Nielsen\AppData\Local\Logos4\Data\5q2son41.s4o\DownloadManager\DownloadManager.db.
Delete C:\Users\N. Erik Nielsen\AppData\Local\Temp\DownloadProgress-5q2son41.s4o.db

What should I rename those files to?
When the same hang happened on my laptop at "99% of 5.36GB" I just decided to "Cancel Download" and the computer immediately began the indexing process and the program started at the new Home page.
So, I went to my desktop and likewise cancelled the download at "0% of 2.7MB" and when indexing was finished, I was in business.
Did I not receive some downloads? Should I still rename and delete the files above?

This is a common technique to get rid of a file (get it out of the way) without actually deleting it, just in case something goes wrong and you need to get it back. Rename it to anything -- it doesn't matter what. Add a ".bak" extension to it for example (to remind you that it's a backup).

Thank you, Dave! This is a problem that plagues me almost every time there is an update available. I've never known a good solution for it. This worked like a charm! I'm going to document it in the FAQ on the wiki. But I'd sure like Logos to figure out what causes this so often for some people and fix it!
It should be safe to delete those first two files, right? (Rather than renaming them and then having those extra files around as clutter?) If you delete them, Logos will regenerate them.

Yes, they will be rebuilt.

If you are satisfied that your systems are up-to-date & working then there is no need to touch those files.

Thanks George, I already noted that method.
What would be useful is to know which is the more effective solution and why?

I think it may be per-user specific because in that thread the user still had issues after getting rid of that download progress file and we had to find a specific resource so maybe his issue was different than this even though it had the same symptoms.

I have the same issue. Could you please advise as to how I should approach it?

Thom,
Try Dave Hooton's suggestion about renaming two files and deleting another:
Try renaming C:\Users\N. Erik Nielsen\AppData\Local\Logos4\Data\5q2son41.s4o\UpdateManager\Updates.db and
C:\Users\N. Erik Nielsen\AppData\Local\Logos4\Data\5q2son41.s4o\DownloadManager\DownloadManager.db.
Delete C:\Users\N. Erik Nielsen\AppData\Local\Temp\DownloadProgress-5q2son41.s4o.dbYour file locations will be of the form C:\Users\{Your User Name}\AppData\Local\Logos4\Data\{Random String}\UpdateManager\Updates.db etc.

I tried the fix as instructed, restarted L4, and it went back to trying to download 2.7MB (staying at 0%).

Then right click the icon and Cancel the download.

yep. knew that one. trying to move past it.

You tried cancelling without success?
Have you received & downloaded the latest updates c. 120 MB in the last 2 days? You can try "Update now" in the Command bar if you haven't.

Thanks. I can cancel it, but every time L4 starts up, it tries to start the download again. I'm getting other updates, but it does the 98.5% thing (waiting for that last 2.7MB) and holds on 98.5% complete (for example). I eventually cancel the download and it installs the 98.5%, indexes, and then says I have a new update that's downloading: 2.7MB stuck on 0%. "update now" tells me "downloads were found and will begin downloading shortly". Then 2.7MB stuck on 0%.

Thom, I get this problem every time I upgrade to a new beta. Rebooting the computer sometimes fixes it. Here's my latest post with links to all the other threads I found helpful when working around this problem. Read them all and try all the suggested fixes, and you'll get beyond it. But I'm still hoping the Logos folks will find out why this keeps happening to some of us and make it stop!

Thanks Rosie. I found downloading bitsadmin and resetting to be effective enough. It's not perfect. I have a couple weird programs going that I wonder if anybody else with this problem might have: Chrome is default browser. Running Win 7 64. Anyway, thanks. Now, a more permanent fix is in order.
