"Parables are also somewhat messianic in origin: only Jesus tells them." from the article "How to Study the Bible"

Run a simple search of parable NEAR "Old Testament" to disprove this statement. You might wish to correct the statement to retain credibility.Wink

Orthodox Bishop Hilarion Alfeyev: "To be a theologian means to have experience of a personal encounter with God through prayer and worship."

Thanks, MJ. I think the author of this article was using "parable" in a very narrow sense for "NT didactic stories only told by Jesus." However, I agree that taking it that way is not helpful for a discussion of genre because it obscures how NT parables fit into a long-standing tradition of using stories to teach. I will work on getting this article revised for greater clarity on that point.
