Is there a way to set priority to commentaries so some of my preferred volumes do not get sent to the bottom of the list when searching? For example nearly without exception my expositors commentary will be at the bottom of the list. I would rather it be placed higher.

Prioritisation does not apply to searches - these are based on number of hits etc.

It does apply to how commentaries are returned in the Passage Guide. Would using a Passage Guide give you what you are looking for?

Graham I am going to be honest I do not know what a passage guide is. I only really understand how to type in the box and search. I bought the learn Logos by John Fallahee and as I have time while in seminary I am trying to learn what all the software can do. As of now my knowledge is very limited. I am loving Logos with what little I understand how to do.

In searching say for instance I am having to work through John 6 in class and I have to sight commentaries. I search and then look at my commentaries but sometimes have to go hunting for the ones I am looking for. The base packages I have came with way more commentaries than I thought.

Here are two possibilities side by side:

1. A Search which can be sorted by rank, resource or count. If you choose resource then the commentaries will be in alphabetical order.

2. A default Passage Guide's commentary section which will be in prioritization order. Tell us which you want and we'll tell you how to get it.

I am going to show my ignorance now. The above is the only place I know how to search. If there is a better place I would love to know. If your above images are produced by my search method that one would be great.

Hi John,

Your entry of John 6 will take you to your default passage guide, the right hand picture posted by Martha above.

Then the one on the right would be perfect if I could be told how to prioritize the list

Another way of looking at it.

In the first screenshot below I have selected a portion of John 6 (click and drag), pressed right-click on my mouse, selected the reference (second item in the right-hand side of the menu and then clicked "Passage Guide" on the left of the menu)

This gives me (I have expanded the "All Commentaries" section) which shows the commentaries I have on this passage in prioritised order

For details on prioritisation please see https://wiki.logos.com/Prioritizing (some of the details have changed in later versions but the principles are still valid)

Does this help at all?

This was a smart move. His work is excellent.

In my opinion, what you want to do to accomplish what you've stated is going to be a custom Passage Guide or custom Exegetical Guide. I know you don't know what those are yet, but if you'll watch a few of Fallahee's videos on those subjects, you will.

Once you figure out how to set those up, you can choose exactly which commentaries appear in your guide by setting custom collections.

Keep asking questions as needed. We don't charge much around here. Wink

My thanks to the various MVPs. Without them Logos would have died early. They were the only real help available.
