This is the final entry of the right click Context Menu for John 20:18. Here I have expanded my selection to include the entire pericope.

1. The first example is Cultural Concept which uses the familiar {Section} format.

2. Note that here the search argument is a single term rather than the frequent compound argument. The legitimate values are visible via:

  • right click menu
  • Witthoff, David, ed. The Lexham Cultural Ontology Glossary. Bellingham, WA: Lexham Press, 2014.

3. Here is an example of the Cultural Ontology Glossary. Unfortunately we do not have a hierarchical display tool as we do for the Bible Sense Lexicon. Note that it appears that only the lowest leaf of the hierarchy produces results. Also note that the value is case sensitive.

4. The next example is our first example of the Label format which must be customized for each label as the number and type of attributes varies from one type of Label to another. In this case the Label is Figure of Speech (a Logos Now feature).

SEARCH FOR A LABEL

The real power of Labels is having the ability to search them. It’s one thing to Label a story grace, it’s another thing to find the Labeled story when you need it.

The Search syntax for Labels can be a little confusing, so I encourage you to study the ones below based on the examples in this chapter. Then place one in the Find box on the Search panel and of course edit it according to your actual Labels.

    ■      {Label Illustrations} locates all Labels with specified Label name
    ■      {Label Illustrations WHERE Topic} locates Labels that have the named Attribute (with any value)
    ■      {Label Illustrations WHERE NOT Topic} locates Labels that don’t have that named Attribute
    ■      {Label Illustrations WHERE Topic = Last Supper} locates exact string match
    ■      {Label Illustrations WHERE Topic ~ Supper} locates partial string match
    ■      {Label Illustrations WHERE References = <Bible Eph 1:7>} locates exact reference match
    ■      {Label Illustrations WHERE References ~ <Bible Eph 1>} locates intersect reference match
    ■      {Label Illustrations WHERE Topic = Grace AND References ~ <Eph>} locates multiple properties

5. This label is not yet in the documentation. However, a hover will show the attributes. The available values are available

6. Note the format of the search argument {Label Label name WHERE attribute match argument}

7. Here is an example of the resource containing the permissible values.

Orthodox Bishop Alfeyev: "To be a theologian means to have experience of a personal encounter with God through prayer and worship."; Orthodox proverb: "We know where the Church is, we do not know where it is not."
