Okay, this is a bit out there, I know but...

Is there a way for me to alphabetize verses within a chapter (or small book) in a particular version of a Bible (say NASB).  In other words, let's say I wanted all verses in Colossians Chapter 1 that start with the letter A, and then verses that start with the letter B, all the way down to Z.

Thanks in advance for your help.

EDIT: My original steps didn't work because it ended up sorting by verse numbers. So you need to create a new copy style, which puts the verse numbers at the end of the line instead of the beginning. Copy and paste this as the new style:

%NoCharFormatting
%NoRedLetter
%NoFootnotes
%NoCitation

=Header
<p>[FullPassageRef] ([Version])</p>

=ForEachVerse
<p>[VerseText][VerseNum]</p>

In the Copy Bible Verses tool, set it to the style you have created.

Paste the desired text into Microsoft Word.

Type each letter of the alphabet into Word as it's own line, and make it a heading.

Use the A-Z sort in Word.

I would then go to View and Set "Navigation Pane" on, so you can easily jump to a specific letter.

No problem. Since I don't know what you are trying to do, let me know if anything doesn't work as expected.

One issue might be if you use multiple chapters, you will need to add [ChapterNum] to the template (so you can distinguish 1:2 from 3:2). If you will only be doing one chapter at a time, this looked really cluttered when I tried it.

Justin Gatlin:
Use the A-Z sort in Word.

Ingenious!

Conventional Search cannot do this as there is no way to isolate results to a specific position in a verse.
