1. The Passages Section of Factbook has no unusual behavior. The behavior on hover (mouse over) is typically a preview - in this case the  Bible verse but with more context than one sees in Factbook when one hovers over the reference..

2. The behavior on right-click is typically the Context Menu; here a mouse over the reference opens a Context Menu containing some knowledge of the actual content.

3. Typical behavior on a reference/link:

  • click on link (reference) opens the resource in a position chosen by the system
  • Shift-click on link (reference) open the resource in a floating window
  • drag-and-drop a link (reference) allows the user to select where the resource opens.

Note that the Bible text to the right of the reference is inactive - no links or selection capabilities.

4. However the reference itself may be drag-and-dropped onto a Passage List ...

5. resulting in a Reference being added to the Passage List.

6. The Reference may also be drag-and-dropped onto a Bibliography

7. This results in a Bibliographic entry to the precise package being added to the Bibliography. I tried drag-and-drop in some other scenarios which resulted some error reports. However, I did not test comprehensively.

8. F7 while hovering over the reference opens the Compare Text panel.

9. Factbook shows only a few of the potential references - the same references that are given as Key Verses of the Topic Guide. Note that these are curated references.

10. The Commands present in this section have less functionality than the Search in the Media Section. A click on the Save as Passage List command will generate a Passage List containing the verses shown above. One cannot have the Passage List open in a floating window or use drag-and-drop.

11. Similar limitations occur with the Open n Verses in NRSV which opens the verses in a Bible filtered by the (implied) Passage List.

Orthodox Bishop Hilarion Alfeyev: "To be a theologian means to have experience of a personal encounter with God through prayer and worship."
