I am a long-time user of Logos and tend to prefer ownership over renting. I am currently a Logos Now subscriber, but am curious about buying the Logos 7 Feature Set vs continuing Logos Now. Is there any current Logos Now feature that is not a part of the Logos 7 feature set?

I know there will be features added to Logos Now later that are not part of the Logos 7 feature set, but are there any as of now. If so, what are they?

Thanks Rick. I had seen the first post above before, but did not notice at the time that it highlights the subscription only features.

I'm not 100% sure but I think it may have been edited to reflect the subscription only tools because it wasn't clear when originally posted.

I am interested in the same thing and hopefully someone can provide a simple straight forward answer to the question.

In general I prefer purchase to renting too.  However, given the LOGOS pricing structure, it almost seems better to rent.  I also thought that LOGOS now was marketed as have all of the features of the current sale product plus features of future products once added.

So if LOGOS Now has the same features I would prefer to stay renting due to Logos pricing

You do get more with Logos Now, David, but should you stop subscribing, you also lose more. For instance, I own Logos 6. Were I to start subscribing to Logos Now and do that for a few iterations, I would still own only the feature and data sets of Logos 6. Logos 7, 8, 9, and 10 may have rolled around, and the Logos Now membership would have kept me up to date with all feature and data sets.

However, should my income become restricted and I can no longer may the annual membership, my Logos feature and data sets would revert to Logos 6, though I would still be able to run Logos because the Logos 10 or 11 or whatever core engine is free.

As I understand, this is the way things stand now. I hope that Logos comes up with a solution to the scenario I described. It's the thing that keeps me from joining Logos Now.

Still, if you are new to Logos, Logos Now may be the best way to get started because the initial cost of the full feature set is high.

Logos Now has all the features in the Full Features Set, plus a few more that were excluded from the FFS because they require ongoing access to Logos' servers.

I hope that FaithLife keeps such online-only features to a minimum. It means that if you are occasionally in a place with unreliable WiFi (or none), you can't access those features. I was debating whether to upgrade to the 7 FFS or Now. This clinched it. I went with FFS. My dynamic price was $137. Not bad. And I can use all the features, online or off. Granted that I don't get the latest features as they roll out. But I won't use all the features in 7 as it is. I'm just learning the potential of such features as Concordance and Multiview Resources, to name only two.

Of course, I reserve the right to change my mind if Now becomes even more attractive! But, for now, I'll stick with FFS.  My two cents.

Simple, straightforward answers in these Fora are like Unobtanium.

Extremely rare.

On the other hand, having online-only features means that if you're in a place with good WiFi, you have features that you can use that you otherwise could not use. FL doesn't make features online-only arbitrarily: it does so because they authentically need to be online only.

What thread-relevant question(s) would you like a simple and straightforward answer to?

If you intend to keep being subscribed to Logos 7 Now at least until the release of Logos 8, would it make sense to also buy the Logos 7 Full Set of Features?

Not to me, Michel. It seems an unnecessary expense to purchase the Full Feature Set along with paying the Logos Now annual fee unless you do not intend to continue subscribing to Logos Now when Logos 8 is released in a couple of years.

I would either plan to continue in Logos Now alone after L8 is released or purchase the Full Feature Set now and not renew Logos Now when the membership needs to be renewed..

I hope that makes sense. My brain is starting to hurt. Smile

Logos Wiki has => Online Only in the Logos 7 section that has "new" for Logos 7 new online features (along with online only from Logos 6).

Mark, you say your "dynamic price" was 137.00 for FFS. How did you manage to pull that off? I'm being told by Sales it would cost 211.00 US price which makes it about 275 Canadian price.

That being said, I just looked at the Logos 7 site and now that exciting price has suddenly gone to a simple 404.79 for the FFS. It just keeps getting better!

Did he specify currency? He is in the UK.

I don't know where Mark said that but, as a Logos Now member, he would get discount for the FFS. It shows in my cart for $126

I see that price for FFS when not logged into the site - are you sure you are logged in with your Logos credentials?

You must own a few additional features that the rest of us don't have. My FFS dynamic sale price with LN discount is $150.

Still not happy about having to fork out an additional $150 to own what appeared to be included with my Logos 7 base package.

Thanks to FL for including Carta and a Hebrew audio bible in Logos 9!

MJSmith, I hadn't noticed Mark was in the UK and that must be why he stated the said amount. Thanks for pointing that out.

Graham, it was Mark Nolette who stated that, e.g "This clinched it. I went with FFS. My dynamic price was $137."

As to the 400.00 price, it must be as you say, I wasn't logged in with my credentials. Something else then, a discount for FFS? If one becomes a LN member, is FFS not included in the yearly subscription? What am I missing?

Thank you, I missed that

You are quite right that FFS is included with the subscription, But some people want to purchase it anyway so they will retain the features if they stop subscribing. So it is an option one can purchase.
