With all the interest in Logos 4.0b we may forget a good deal to be had this week and a couple of more that are almost ready to be offered.

The Gospel Mystery of Sanctification closes out at noon this Friday (Pacific time). Only a few more bids needed to reduce the cost to $5.00.

Scougal needs just a few more bids to go over the top. Bid $5.00 today.

Last, Mueller is almost ready to  go. A few more $18 bids will set it free.

I think they should raise the bar somehow on the community pricing program. Maybe it would be more popular if they offer more popular out of copyright books. Thanks for the remider I have had my bid on some books for months. They just never seem to move.. But I think you posting these reminders helps..

Blessings...

In a way Community Pricing is how they determine how popular a title is - the problem is that they have much of selection up and any given time. I think the uservoice page that has been created to get feedback about program functionality would be an excellent way to also determine which titles to put up for community pricing. Obviously it would need to be a different uservoice page so it didn't mess with what they have up already.

Jeremy, what you said about community pricing being  the way they determine what is popular or not, is only partially true.

Many times there are public domain books that are never put on community pricing because they know they are popular.  In many cases those are books that have great value and I think Logos knows they can make more money off the book by putting up as a pre-pub.  In fact very recently a PD book went directly to pre-pub and skipped right over community pricing it is a set of books that I already have in a pdf file and it is very useful for those that know some Greek, I had long hoped to see the books in community pricing, but I am sure it would have gone for a much, much lower price than what it is listed for on pre-pub.

In Christ,

Jim

You just need to find an additional 20% more people on top of those who have already bid - not out of the question - particularly if the speed at which Marshall made it to 100% (2 weeks!!) is an indication of how popular it is.

Yes, that is kind of the fly in the ointment - and given that Logos is set up as a commercial enterprise (and I don't begrudge that) it is totally their prerogative to take that approach. The way I see it thought that overall there is a much more compelling commercial advantage to having a wider range of titles available at lower price points as opposed to having a smaller number of titles sold at a premium.

IOW, I don't have an unlimited budget to buy books but I do have a least some discretion. So when considering paying $15 for one title versus $18 for two, that extra 3 bucks is in the big scheme of things inconsequential to me but multiplied by many users, potentially significant for Logos. Not to mention a "longer tail" of product in which to attract further interest and purchases from users.

This might backfire.  If I were LOGOS, I would put those with the most votes into PrePub, and those with fewer votes into Community Pricing.

Yes, this is what Jim was pointing out. In order for a "uservoice" situation to work there would have to be some type of "promise" that it was for titles destined for community pricing
