To immediately update to the current stable version enter the Update Now command. Otherwise, the app will automatically update the next time it's scheduled to check for updates.

Hi ... and thank you!

I've seen and accomplished the manual instructions for "New Windows option in 7.9 to make Logos faster"

... but per the 7.10 release notes do not see where there is a an option for "(Windows only) Added a new command to the Command Bar to turn on and off the new Windows option."

Am I supposed to see a new text link or button that now does this automatically?

OK. Further research shows me that I'm supposed to type, into the "Command Bar" input field, "Set use Ngen to Yes" ... thank you for adding feature!

Kevin,

It means you can type the command into the Command Bar within the app (it's in the toolbar) to turn it on or off. You don't have to do that outside of the application. The command is Set use Ngen to yes.

Thank you so much for this update.

I was able to set ngen to yes.

What I'm having difficulty with is finding how to pin the Concordance in the History menu.

That option doesn't appear for me when I right click the Concordance reference in History.

Thanks,

Paul L. White

I'm getting error messages when I post.  But then the message goes through.

I'm going to try and upload my screen grab of the attempt to pin the Concordance to History.

Salute!

Paul

PS  I do realize that in the Log file there was some confusion during the initial install of Logos on this machine, as my technician had copied files from my personal directory on the previous machine, and there may have been some overwriting when I did the first install on this one.

I will try to update on my laptop, and see if the situation is the same.  Thanks.

PSS  I just now updated the Logos on my Laptop, and it has the same situation.  There is no way I can see to pin the Concordance to the history list.  Not by right clicking, anyway  Blessings.

You should be able to hover your cursor over the "pin" icon and click it. Does that work for you?

Hi Mr. Criddle,

I'm sorry but my History list doesn't show any "Pin" icons...none at all...neither on the Dell PC, nor on the HP Laptop.  Both are running Windows 7 OS 64-Bit.

Here is the series of steps I took regarding this and another issue:

After updating Logos on my Laptop, I tried the History List, and no ability to pin there either.  However, with the Laptop version there was the additional problem of not being able to Set Us NGEN to Yes.  There *was* that option on the PC install of Logos.  All the Laptop version does is try to do a search of  your resources for that phrase (on the Command Line).

I wondered if maybe the .Net 47 version was installed on the Laptop, and downloaded the install of it per a link in the Beta discussions of this new version.  The Laptop wanted to do a repair of that file, so I did so.  It did *not* request a reboot.

Which made me curious, so I ran that .Net 47 install on my Dell PC, and it also asked if I wanted to repair, so I said "yes."  After it did so, it *did* ask for a reboot of my machine.

After I rebooted, and gave the machine some time, Logos tried to load twice (I may have clicked the icon once too many times??), and hung up.  So I deleted it from memory, then opened it again.  I think maybe the bootup process may not have been totally complete at first, I don't know.

The situation is the same with my PC:  I can Set the NGEN use to Yes or No in the command line, and no pin buttons for History list.  My history list doesn't look exactly like yours, thus the pic I uploaded earlier.

I rebooted the Laptop anyway, just for grins, and then opened Logos, and it did seem to be slower, but it opened.  No ability to set the ngen in the command box.  So I closed the software, and used the manual .cmd file to open it with NGEN like we did prior to this new update.

Last techy note:  I do a registry clean after any software install update, and the Laptop had no errors that I could see in the registry re: the install, but the Dell PC did.  Mostly the Registry couldn't find the Updater.exe file that had been put in it.

I will attach the Log files from the Laptop on *this* post.  Those looked more "normal" than on the PC.  The error file I uploaded in a previous comment here was the only new one on the PC, except for CEF, which I presumed wasn't pertinent to these issues.

Phew!  Time to go to bed.  Hope y'all can figure this out.  Blessings.

Confusion over Histories

Your screenshot shows you are using the History Tool - outlined in red below - whereas you need to be using the panel history in the Concordance Tool - outlined in blue below

Try the one in the Concordance Tool and see how you get on

Thank you, Mr. Criddle!  I did indeed find that listing after you showed me the graphic.  Wonderful.  I clicked the little star, and it blinked, so I hope that meant something.  :-)

I went to my laptop, and discovered that, even though it went through the download and install process, it hasn't upgraded to version 10.  I presume that's because the .NET Framework 4.7 isn't working properly.

After trying again to repair it, and it still didn't ask for a reboot, I just now removed it, and will see if that utility a previous post mentioned will now install it.  It may be that NET 4.7 won't work properly on my Laptop.  Needless to say, the ability to save the concordance isn't working there, and neither is the NGEN set in Command box.

Will be back to let everyone know the results.  Phew!  Long night.

Okay, I deleted NET 4.7, rebooted, installed it.  Then did Windows Update, and there were two.  They installed successfully.  Asked me to reboot my machine, for which I was grateful.

I did so.  I started Logos.  Did update now.  It's still at version 7.9 SR-1 (on the Laptop). No Updates Available.

I tried running Logos Setup, and it said I have the most recent version available.  I moved the Logos.exe file, and then ran Logos Setup, and it said the same thing.

I then did a repair of the Logos program, and still we cannot get to Logos 7.10.

I have worked the entire night, now, from around midnight until 6:19am.  As for as I know, the NET 4.7 is installed correctly.  It doesn't show up in the Windows Features from Control Panel, but neither does it do so on the Dell PC.

Do you know of any way I can get Logos to see that I have a new install of NET 4.7, and that it's been updated by Windows Update?

Thanks a million.  My fear is, of course, that I can never update Logos again on the Laptop.  I hope you find what you need in the Zip file I posted earlier.  Salute!

Paul

I assume you have Windows 7 SP1 on laptop?

You should see this in Control Panel > Programs and Features when you select "Turn Windows Features on or off":

(no need to do anything)

Alternatively the Web installer for .NET 4.7 should let you know the situation when run.

Then get the Setup.exe file from the Download link in the first post of this thread. Ensure logging is enabled and run Setup. Upload the compressed Log Files folder.

From the log files you posted above, it appears that you are experiencing a lot of network failures, and the application has been unable to successfully download the update program. I recommend following Dave's advice and manually downloading and running the installer from the link in the first post and seeing if that resolves your problem.

Yes Sir!  I do have Windows 7 SP1 on both of my machines.

However, neither show the NET Framework 4.7 Advanced Services in the Windows Features window, I'm sorry to say.  May I presume that graphic comes from Window 10?

Yet the utility is definitely installed, as Logos 7.10 is working on both machines now.  I will give more details in the next response.

Thank you so much for your help!

Thank you very much!  I did indeed download that file onto the PC, copied it to a Laptop directory, and installed it on the Laptop.

It ran through its paces just fine, and Voile!  Logos 7.10 is now working there.  I set the use NGEN to Yes, and verified that the Concordance history had the pin Concordance option available.

The only concern I have is that, after the install, it took approximately one hour for the indexing to complete.  I presume that something blew up yesterday when Logos on the Laptop (which I call "LL") first downloaded the update (185 mb).  The download actually completed yesterday, but something happened during the install, and the software wanted to *re-download* the 165 mb data that I had already worked with a week or so ago.

If you want me to send you the Log files still, for your own record keeping and research, I'll be glad to.

I was so pleased with the function of the LL, that I ran the setup program on my PC Logos (which I call simply "Logos") just in case it might help something.  Obviously, it only took a minute or so, because 7.10 was already on that machine.  I set the use NGEN to Yes, and it asked me to restart the software.

The indexing afterwards was quite fast on Logos.

After it finished (much later) on LL, I opened the software, let it prepare the Library, to make sure there was no second index needed.  Then I shut it down.  When I opened it again immediately thereafter, it opened as quickly as my regular Logos does.

So I think we're good to go.  Both libraries have the same exact number of books, and the list of books in Update order look almost identical.

Again, if you still would like those files, I'll be glad to send them.  I didn't see any error messages in the ones I checked.

Blessings.  Oh how good Victory feels this morning!

PS  One thing I did do differently this morning was plug the Laptop into the Modem/Router by wire, instead of using Wi-Fi.  The PC can only use twisted pair connection.  Yesterday the Laptop was on Wi-Fi while the PC was on twisted pair.  I don't know if that explains the network error messages you saw, or whether my Internet company was having problems, which could very well have been.

No need for the additional logs. I'm glad you are up and running again!

Can someone do a post about the new Faithlife Music and better explain what this is?

Could someone explain the benefit of being able to copy and paste from the media into the sermon document? Perhaps I am missing something, but if you preach from Word it does not show the slide anyway in that document and if you preach from the sermon editor document, it does not show the slide there. So I am not sure what is the benefit, especially when you can right click on the media in your search and send it directly to Proclaim. I just am not seeing the benefit, but perhaps I am missing something.

Also,  when I select a word in my Greek Bible and hit enter it does not pronounce the word. Is it only tagged to a certain version of the GNT or am a I missing something there as well? Thanks!

I was using it earlier this week and found it very useful.

I wanted to be able to show that different versions have pericope breaks in different places in a particular passage so set up a "multiple view" on a resource to show three Bibles together. I took a screenshot of the resulting panel and saved it as a file which I then upoladed into the Media Tool.

I then imported it into my Sermon document so it appears in the right place in the sermon - and will then appear in either the PowerPoint export or in Proclaim.

You are right that you can send a piece of media directly to Proclaim but this approach allows it to be properly integrated into the sermon

While, in this case, this was a piece of media I created a similar principle would apply for media that was already in the system.

The change in this release relates to the Pronunciation Tool not Bibles.
