Sure wish we could convince the good folks at Logos to pick up the works of John Phillips....his commentaries and such. Any other Phillips' fans out there?

WORDsearch just had a special offer of John Phillips' Commentaries for around $300+-. So now I have them in that format at least.

I'm adding my desire to see the Phillips commentaries as well.

Anyone at Logos have any plans?

Yes please! I have his works in WordSEARCH but would pay good money to have them in Logos 4!

I'm surprised this hasn't been chosen to be done already yet!  (if they hadn't tried already)  But I'm still impressed with the speed and vision Logos has for getting many resources out.  Sure was a way to make money from current users as well, keep making more books for them to purchase.  It's great for the user, instead of having to buy other bible programs, you just get new books for the same program.

I have never owned his commentaries but he was a magnificent preacher..

Dr John Phillips died July 25th, 2010.

Yes  I would welcome a Logos edition of his writings.

We must be thinking of different Phillipses since John B Phillips died in July of 1982.  His NT The New Testament in Modern English would be good alongside The Message.  Also his Your God is too Small would be of interest.

Yes, it confused me too when this thread first appeared.

The John Phillips referred to in this thread is the Baptist one: http://www.drjohnphillips.com/index.html, rather than the Anglican one you speak of.

Hmm.  I never heard of him.  Of course, I never heard of William Finnegan Smith either.  Who is he?  I don't know whether there is such a person since I just made it up.

I wrote to Logos about the John Phillips works and this was the response I got back from my contact last year.

"Hi Ted,

It’s a bit of a long story, but we are not able to license this at the moment. We have been working on it, and we’re optimistic we can get this very soon.

 Hope this helps."

I recall recieving an email from WS sometime ago marketing the Phillips commentaries as being exclusive to them. That may be part of the problem.

Yes, it's currently exclusive to WORDsearch for desktop Bible software (OliveTree has it for handheld)

Dr. John Phillips (the one spoken of in the general thread ... the Baptist, not the Anglican) preached for me and some preachers in my circles. Amazing man. Dr. Phillips, when he was alive, was slow to understand the electronic resource benefits and was concerned that it would become easier for people to corrupt his work. I know the pastor that convinced him to share his resources with WordSearch and would be happy to talk to someone at Logos about the details. I'd buy Phillips pre-pub in a heartbeat.

LOL, I just discovered John Phillips and fell in love with his work.  I just posted a thread on the suggestions section without realizing there was one already.  Either way, I agree with you 100% - we should have John Phillips works and the rest of John G. Butler works in Logos 4/Libronix format or at last L4 only.  Anyway, I hope they can listen to  us and have compassion enough to make JP's works available to us Logos users.

Blessings!

It seems that WORDsearch has a lot of the titles I want that Logos doesn't publish. John Phillips ("Exploring . . ." books), John Butler's (Bio Series), and many others. I never wanted to have my resources in multiple programs, but maybe I should check out WORDsearch.
